We are the robotsFor some people, it’s a scramble to get a costume together on Halloween. Whether you are going to a party, or whether you just want something fun to wear for the kids that come to the door, putting together a Halloween costume doesn’t have to be difficult.

There are a number of easy to assemble last minute Halloween costume ideas. You probably have most of what you need around the house already — so it won’t cost very much, either. Here are 10 ideas for easy, last minute Halloween costumes:

1. Robot

If you have some boxes around, simply paint them silver. Boxes of different sizes work to go over arms, legs, torso, and head. But you don’t even need that many boxes to make it work. You can glue on buttons to use for knobs. A fun solution for adults and kids alike.

2. Babe Magnet

This is a fun one for the guys. Simple put on some old clothes (light gray works well, but other colors work, too). Then find some dolls around the house (or go to the dollar store for some really cheap dolls). Make a sign that says “babe magnet” and tape, pin or sew it to your shirt. Add the dolls, and you’re good to go.

3. Frazzled Housewife

A classic. All you need are your pajamas and a bathrobe, and a few curlers. Put the curlers in your hair, and wear your PJs with the robe askew over them. If you have slippers, wear those, too. You can add bags under your eyes with dark makeup. A popular twist on this is, of course, the zombie/dead housewife. Use makeup to change your look a little bit.

4. Burglar

Super-simple. Wear all black. If you have a ski mask, all the better. If you want to be silly about it, get a black scarf and cut eye holes. Use dark makeup to draw on a curly mustache if you want. Carry a duffle bag to complete the look.

5. Baby

Put on your pajamas and slippers, get a big pacifier, and carry around a teddy bear. You can use makeup to draw on large freckles if you want. Women can put their hair in pigtails to enhance the baby image.

6. Hula Girl

Cut a green skirt into strips to be a “grass skirt.” If you already have a grass skirt, so much the better. Wear a bikini top and bottom with your grass skirt. You can use a lei you already have, or you can put colorful scrunchies on a string to do duty as a lei.

7. Chippendale

All you have to do is put on black shoes and black pants. Then, wear a black bowtie. No shirt needed.

8. Ghost

You can’t grow wrong with this simplest of Halloween costume ideas. Eye holes in a sheet. It’s so cliche, that it’s funny. If you want to jazz it up a little, you can add to it, but most of the time, it’s just fast and easy.

9. Ancient Roman

Another sheet idea, this one involves winding it around your body like a toga. Put on some sandals and you’re good to go. You can glue some fake leaves to a headband to make a laurel crown if you want to.

10. Dead Prom Queen/King

Put on old formal clothes. Raid your closet, or buy something from a thrift shop. Use makeup to make your face look dead or zombified. If you have an old play tiara, you can put it on. Or use a fake crown to be a dead prom king. A fun last minute costume idea for a couple.

I have always liked stuck on a deserted island look. Take your old Hawaiian t-shirt and old shorts and fray the ends. Added bonus put red paint on your hand and palm a beach ball to bring along as your best friend. 🙂
