  • Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express – earn up to 30K bonus Starpoints®:10K after your first purchase and 20K after you spend $5K in purchases on the card within the first 6 mo. Offer expires 9/3/2013. That’s enough for a weekend getaway to a Category 4 Hotel.
  • American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card – 10,000 Membership Reward points will be credited to your Membership Rewards account 6 to 8 weeks after your first purchase, annual fee waived for the first year. 10,000 points is worth $100 in gift cards or 10,000 miles.
  • CitiBusiness Card with ThankYou Network – $100 worth of Thank You Rewards after $250 in purchases.

Rather than just endorse these cards (as an affiliate member), you might want to also state how these cards are rated by someone like www Citibank is a good choice but there are better reward incentives (cash back). Also, no one should pay an annual fee for Amex now that they have Blue and other no fee cards.

  2. jim says:

I’m listing these cards strictly for their $100 promotional offers and the AMEX’s annual fee has been waived in the first year.

  3. King Asa says:

There is a 3% transaction fee on balance transfers with the Sony card, so it’s probably not a good idea for those just looking to earn interest on the money.

  4. MoneyFwd says:

The Citi Professional Card now has the balance transfer rate for only 9 months rather than 12.

  5. Jeff says:

Do you need an actual business to apply and receive the AMEX Business Gold Rewards Card? On the application they ask for your Federal Tax ID # and your business name. I’m addicted to these $100 gift card offers and so far this year have $700 in Target and Toys R Us gift cards for some free Christmas shopping. More cards couldn’t hurt.

  6. jim says:

If you had a sole proprietorship your tax id number is your social security number and your business name would be your name (or whatever you wanted as a business name).

  7. Jeff says:

    The SonyCard application says:

    Terms & Conditions:
1 Offer subject to credit approval. Card credit will be applied to your Sony Card account 8-12 weeks after your first purchase. Offer expires March 31, 2006. First purchase must be made by June 30, 2007

It’s obviously well past March 31, 2006. Does anybody know whether it’s still available?

Re: Guaranty Group Business Credit Card

    I can’t make the link work….. help?

  9. Susanna says:

never mind – somehow the guaranty credit card link worked all of a sudden – must have been something on my internet blipping….

  10. jim says:

In the short term it is, you increase the number of applications; long term, not at all.

If you plan on getting a big loan in the next few months, DO NOT APPLY FOR A CREDIT CARD; if you don’t plan on a big loan, I don’t see a problem.

  11. kyle says:

is applying to all these credit cards and then just cancelling them bad for your credit score?

  12. Stara says:

Can you sign up for the cards as a sole proprietorship if you just ocassionaly sell items online? Or do you need to be a “legal” business?

  13. jim says:

I’ve signed up as a sole proprietorship without any problems whatsoever.

Any1 know when the sony credit card is approved ….i got a “We are currently reviewing your application. You will be notified in writing about the status of your application within 30 days.” Do they really credit 150$ after your first purchase?

  15. Norm says:

I got the Sony card and bought aa $7 lunch with it in mid December. I received my $150 credit on the card last week. I was VERY pleased with the turn around time on it.

Glad I got one for my wife as well 🙂
