A great list, Jim, nice one! I’ve tried a lot of those and the most enjoyable was wine tasting. It can also, unfortunately, be the most pricey!

My bf and go to are camp for any special occassion we live in a snowy area so its hard to take a walk or things that are to outdoors This year iam thinking of playing a game with each other to see how well we really do know each other Iam going to make a puzzle picture of myself and have him put it together ,among doing other things the time we share is the best of all to us in a place where we built are relationship

My husband and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary this Valentine’s Day. Since money is tight, like alot of folks, we will be exchanging love notes at a picnic at the local lake. If the weather’s good, we’ll go to the beach which is only another 25 minutes away. We usually take our vacation around this time of year. This year, vacation is coming a little late, but all is ok. Our kids LOVE the fact that we spend our vacation with them. We just make sure to take time out at a later date for each other. Getting quality kids with teenagers is no easy task and if they’re willing to spend time with the family…woo hoo!

Great list! I think cooking at home is one of the most romantic and fun things you can do with someone. And you can save 50-75% compared to going to a nice restaurant (without fighting the Valentine’s Day crowds).

I love your VDay ideas. Since I cook every. single. day. that’s not very exciting (ha!) though I love to do it. Everything else sounds great. We may stay overnight some place, but it will still be very cost effective for us.

We are in San Francisco and have memberships to a few museums so we may hit one of two of them also.

It’s sad to see people spend fortunes just because someone else told them they need to.

Valentines day is just for business, you should appreciate your partner or whoever everyday not just on Valentines Day.

People are blind to see this.

Your local FreeCycle group is a great place to get “new to you” movies and games… and to pass your old ones on to someone new. And a great pair of candlesticks to set the mood.

Great ideas! I know so many people that have the mindset that if they spend a lot of money on each other they are proving that they have a great relationship. This couldn’t be further from the truth – as I’ve seen so many not last!! More people need to go the frugal way!

Oh almost forgot….

The mall is a great valentine’s day activity! Just after all the stores closes (but before the mall itself close), there will be no one in the mall. If there’s only the two of you in a huge place with great lights, it could feel incredibly romantic to sit down somewhere with good decor and just spend some alone time.
