It’s also better to buy a brand such as Benjamin Moore paint versus the cheap store brand. Better to have it done in one pass with the good paint than 2-3 with the bad.

Looks like a cool book, but there is an awful lot of similar books out there. My favorite by far is 10,001 Ways to Live Large on a small Budget. I love to see book reviews here.

Hi Jim,

I am Canadian and so a lot of your specific financial advice does not apply; however, I have learned a lot from you and appreciate your easy-to-understand, “I’ve been there too” approach.

In terms of cheap paint, the local eco-stations (recycling) always have a table of “free-for-the-taking” cans of paint or stain that have been turned in at Toxic Round-up events. The paint has been checked for usability and safety before being put out for give-away. You may not get the exact colour you were looking for…but you might find something you like better!
