Not to mention that watching the race from the infield is probably one of the funnest things to do. I’ve never seen so many hard core, decked out fans in my life (and amazing RVs). I challenge you to find more hardcore fans in the US (I say US because soccer fans are so hardcore they are insane).

Actually, let me stop you right there. There are none.

Note: I am not a NASCAR fan. I don’t watch it on TV regularly and I’ve been to one race (it was awesome).

I’ve got to admit as an F-1 fan, for years I had little respect for NASCAR… Accelerate and turn left in a car that looks just like mine. Anyone can do that. What’s so hard?

But this year I’ve found myself on the couch each Sunday watching (and napping) while NASCAR is on and I’ve got to admit it’s pretty in-depth. And your PF connections definitely make a good analogy — one I never would have thought of…

@Anonymous – You say that LeMans style racing is a sport because they turn in both dorections and NASCAR doesn’t? Would it be safe to say that athletes who take part in track events (only turn left) are not taking part in a sport but those who run marathons are?

Anyways, I really enjoyed the comparison of NASCAR and personal finance. Many good pieces of advice in there.

nascar is not a sport. you want endurance racing? watch the lemans 24 hour race. they actually turn left and right.
