Anyone Ever Used Esurance?

A friend of mine at work today was comparing some auto insurance quotes and the one that came back from Esurance was ridiculously lower than the others. He was wondering if they were lowballing all the other offers to gain market share and I had no idea. In fact, I was under the impression that Esurance was an insurance search engine and not an actual underwriter.

something is weird…

6months of coverage (same coverages and deductibles…)
Progressive: 1215.00
Geico: 970.00
Esurance: 709.00

You think they are trying to capture some market share and underbidding a bit?

Thoughts anyone?

DO NOT DO IT! I was with Esurance for 7 years. I am a very good driver. 0 points and I go to Defensive Driving courses to lower my rate because I want to. I have been paying $421 every 6 months for years now. My policy renewed and for reasons called “cost of doing business increase” they went to $883 every 6 months. To top it off they sent 1 email back in January with the increase written in gray on gray background. No phone calls no nothing. Just yesterday they took the money out of my account. For no other reason than that. No tickets, no nothing. Allstate bought them. They suck now.

Yep now that Allstate owns this crap company Esurance, now the founders are ultra-rich and the consumer is paying the tab. Esurance sent me an email, not a phone call, but an email saying they were cancelling my policy if I didnt upgrade to Allstates commercial insurance because I owned 7 vehicles in 2-3 year period. I called and explained I am not business just someone who doesnt drive the same car for 10 years. Didnt matter. Your policy is cancelled we wont insure anything you own. WTF! Esurance I hope you fail miserably.

Yeah I’ve used them, and let me say this – you can probably do better. Esurance has to spend all their money on advertising (to compete with GEICO, Progressive, etc.) Hence, they jack up their rates.
If you really want CHEAP, I’d suggest going with a smaller, independent quote provider. I used 4autoinsurancequote to get 35/month liability, and i know friends who’ve gotten auto insurance even cheaper! u just gotta open up google and shop around!
