Ask For Auto Insurance Discounts Early

Georgia left an excellent comment the other day about how she received her “turning 25″ auto insurance discount three months early simply by asking.
From our email correspondence:
I was actually calling my insurance for something else (in late January) when he asked when I was turning 25 (in early May). He put me in for the discount and it didn’t kick it back. He said that they will usually give the discount 3 up to three months before age 25. So I got the discount of being 25 [three months early].
Chalk it up to another one of those “it never hurts to ask” type of deals. Incidentally, her insurance was American Family but it might work with your insurer as well.

Jim, do you know if there is a similar price break once you turn 21?
I don’t believe there is a benefit when you turn 21. However, there is a HUGE discount once you get married or have kids so make sure you tell them as soon as you leave the altar or hospital! I guess they assume you are more responsible once you’re married or have kids.
Geico told me there was a discount once you turn 21 but it wasn’t as big as the one you’d get when you turn 25… it doesn’t hurt to ask someone at the insurance company, they’ll usually tell you.

Not sure of the age discount but if married, that is one available discount. If you have homeowners insurance as well as your auto insurance, you can get the multiple policy discount. I am sure there are many others but I know these two combined get a hefty discount.
