John M. Box, Ph.D. is Senior Vice President of Education, Junior Achievement Worldwide. Dr. Box began his career in education in 1970 as a classroom teacher in the Racine Unified School District in Racine, Wisconsin. He became principal at Homestead High School in Mequon, Wisconsin in 1984, and in 1990 took the position of superintendent of the Hartland Arrowhead School District in Hartland, Wisconsin. He served in that capacity in the Monona Grove School District in Monona, Wisconsin and the Mequon-Thiensville School District in Mequon, Wisconsin before joining Junior Achievement’s worldwide headquarters in 2004.

Sometimes it seems like our children are programmed to turn a deaf ear when we begin to talk about doing chores, saving money or preparing college applications. Many parents struggle with how to broach these topics without nagging, boring or confusing kids, and as a result, the conversation may never happen.
