The eagle eyed among you may have noticed a slight change to the top of the screen, there’s a little login screen! That’s right, you will now be able to register an account at Bargaineering for free (like everything else on Bargaineering!). Why would you want to register an account? There are several reasons. We will begin rolling out a few new features that will be available only to registered users. I can’t say what they are yet but it’ll be some fun little things that I think you’ll all enjoy.
Next, you get the opportunity to earn Bargaineering Bucks (ββ) that you can turn into extra entries into contests, Bargaineering schwag, ING referrals, and other fun things. You can learn more about Bargaineering Bucks here.
You will also get more reading space. You may not notice this but on the homepage there are no advertisements on the left hand side. On individual articles, there are advertisements on the left hand side. When you register and log in, you won’t see those left hand advertisements ever. You’ll get more screen real estate to read the articles of Bargaineering contributors and less space wasted on advertisements you don’t care about!
Finally, you can get bragging rights! We list all the Bargaineering.com users and their stash of Bargaineering cash at the Bargaineering Bucks Leaderboard! (be sure to fill out your profile because we’ll use it to share some information about you on the leaderboard!)

Just signed up – this sounds like a neat program can’t wait to see it evolve!
I’m a member, and I just earned $1 for posting this. Woohoo!
By the way, I heard a rumor that on July 1st, Jim will be converting all Bargaineering Bucks to real money and sending out payments via PayPal.
They will be convertible at FiveCentNickel.com.
Dude, you could’ve at least made that a live link if you’re expecting me to pay!
$1,000 bonus dollar for calling into the Personal Finance Hour? See nickel, it was all for the money…
Very neat idea.
Also, I’m envying your “incoming links” widget when signed into WP.
…Or rather, not the widget, but the links themselves.
Unfortunately I had to disable that.
Jim, will there be a link between the forum account and this one?
Also, will the BBs be backed by thengold standard or are you going with a central banking model? Will you sell bonds? Control money supply? What guaruntees can you make about inflation control?
I have to figure out the logistics of linking the two, once I figure that out I’ll let you all know. Until then, it’ll be two systems.
It’s fiat money (no cash value!), no bonds and I do control money supply. No guarantees against inflation.
i’m not going to lose my forum posts am i?

My first comment on Bargaineering
I am not sure of cashing BBs, but I am certainly excited abou the “new features” available exclusively to the registered users.
Glad to become a member – looking forward to participating.
Very exciting! No ads on the left, Extra entries in to drawings, whats not to love?
Call me stupid but where do you register?
I added a link, it was silly of me not to include a link!
Stupid!
I am rich with bargaineering bucks! Nickel is no match.
You’re going down, brother.
I’m going to hedge against bargaineering buck inflation with some gen x bucks. You can’t stop that.
I’m buying Bargaineering commodities as an inflation hedge.
Once Saladdin joins bargaineering bucks, no one will be able to catch him – quantity over quality wins again.
This is going to be such fun! I’m learning a lot here, and it’s only going to get better!
I need a bailout. Can you issue $700T and start passing it out?
Nifty. Looking forward to converting my bucks to PayPal
Very clever! I can’t wait to see how this fleshes out.
Can’t wait to see my piggy bank smiling.
I’m curious Jim, how did you come up with this idea? I’m excited to try this out.
My brain.
Jim’s brain is the source of many great and wonderful ideas. And some that are… Not so much.
He had the idea, but it was my encouragement that brought it to see the light of day.
I haven’t seen anything this good since I first set eyes on the Emerald City! Keep up the good work Jim, this is a no slacker zone!
wooo i’m gonna be rich and sell all my bargaineering bucks for fivecentnickel pennies. woo woot
How many of those do you get per dollar?
I’ve been lurking here for quite a while. Finally taking advantage of the occasion to leave my first comment at Bargaineering.
I was trying to log in with my forum ID when I realized there was no link between the two! Boo haha. It’s ok; I went ahead and registered. For some reason I’m sure saladdin would like his forum posts to count for BB too. Expensive!
no credit for forum posts? this is just an example of the man keeping me down.
saladdin
You get $25 for each 100 forum posts chief, so you do get credit.
Woohoo. I’ll let you do the math for my forum posts too then Jim. Thanks!
To get credit for past activity, you need to send me an an email with your usernames and what you’ve done. That’s how I know who has gotten credit or not, please shoot me an email when you get a chance.
Wow. You created your own currency. Wasn’t I reading about that somewhere..?
Also, commenting is now a game where I can BEAT people? Glee!
Do our BBs earn compounded interest?
The current target Bargaineering funds rate is 0% I’m afraid.
BTW – this is an awesome idea – I never like having to sign up for websites, but this has exactly ZERO strings attached and now I have a goal of reaching the top of the BB leaderboard!
my life long dedication to quantity has finally paid off.
jim, you may need a super computer to calculate my balance. if you want to just round it to 1,000 that will work.
saladdin
How cool! Interesting idea!
Awesome idea!
I am signed up, and now have more $ in BB than I do in my EF.
Cool idea, Jim! Just signed up. Can’t wait to build up a stockpile of Bargaineering bucks for a rainy day!
What’s the conversion rate for bargaineering bucks to schrute bucks and stanley nickels?
This sounds like a interesting program…
Looking forward to the program
Not so bad, but I must say, this is the first site I think I’ve signed up for where the username was case sensitive…it took several attempts before I realized what I was doing wrong.
I just learned that myself, wordpress is a little funky like that I’m afraid.
