Chase is offering 0% up to 12 months and 8.99% plus prime. I have excellent credit, never paid a dime of interest to a credit card in my life *might be my problem* have 21 trade lines perfect payment history and they gave me 3mos 0% with a 21% APR. I am currently dealing with customer service. Don't apply to Chase. I called in and he told me I had bad credit so with him on the line I pulled my bureaus - flawless. He then said I had idendity theft and should enroll in a 12.00 a month program.... for what reason? I just checked my bureaus. The next guy I got on the line said it was because I didn't have Chase history and I said I want to talk to someone about my APR he said that department doesnt exist.... 3 reps later I realize there IS in fact an APR department... I have their number and I will be calling them in the morning. IF they refuse - American Express is out there and offers 6 months minimum 0%. 6 months would be good enough for me to get the Road Bike I am looking at financing (don't want to rip into my savings/paycheck for this badboy)

I just got the 0%APR Citicard and I'm trying to figure out what the finance charges are during this period, if there are any. It says 50cent minimum finance charge. And I tried calling them to get someone on the phone who didn't even know what I was asking and kept reading the same thing over and over again. Anyone know how the finance charge works?

It might be good to mention here that most of these offers are for new credit cards or, alternately, for balance transfers.

I have the Advanta Business Card and have occasionally asked for their promotion du jour only to be turned down (and, yes, I have good credit, pay my card balances each month, etc.). So the promotions you post about don't always work for existing customers.

The other thing to mention is about balance transfers. If you happen to be carrying an existing balance on your card and then transfer a balance at 0% the company will pay down your 0% transfer allowing your interest bearing balance to accrue interest. So, if you have any kind of substantial balance it might be wiser to get a "new" 0% credit card vs transferring a balance from one to another.

Of course, from my point of view, it is always preferable to pay down any existing balances to zero and then keep it at zero (paying any purchase balances off monthly) and don't worry about 0%. It only encourages debt. Why do you think they offer 0%. They know your habits.
