I keep money at ING even though they aren't a rate leader cause I like their website! Most of my money is somewhere else but I won't give up on ING completely, their interface, the information they display with your account (like current rate, interest paid to date etc) keep me coming back. I just opened a CD there and I love that it give you the current value (taking early redemption penalties into account) and value at maturity. Other companies should learn from them, I value information.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for posting such practical perspectives on your blog. I work at a company that's trying to design a product that effectively helps people get our of debt. I talk to people every day that are struggling with merely deciding on what types of accounts to keep, and which one's they should do away with in order to get back on track with their financial planning. Do you have any specific advice regarding online savings accounts for the mass of people out there struggling with credit card debt, mortgage payments, and foreclosures?

Thanks,

Raj Patel
