The veteran's name is Lanier Phillips. He was one of only 42 survivors when the U.S.S. Truxtun sank off the south eastern coast of Newfoundland (the Burin Peninsula) in Chambers Cove, Ash Wednesday, February 18, 1942. The men of the Truxtun were rescued by the miners and citizens of St. Lawrence. The U.S.S. Pollux was also lost off of Lawn Point, but 142 sailors were rescued by 8 fisherman from the town of Lawn. In total, 203 men died from the two ships.

My husband and I took my mother and aunt (both 70+ in age) to this performance. And I was most pleasantly surprised at how much I laughed. I knew he was funny, being 37 and of the 'COsby Show' generation, but I guess I wasn't sure what he would be like at 70 years old. Well....WOWWW!!! We especially loved his marriage and child-raising stories....it made my husband and I realise we were typical in our idiosyncracies! :-D I wish I could remember the name of old WWII Veteran he brought on stage though. I can't wait to see his story if it is indeed being made for the movies. Can you recall his name?

Very lucky of you to win those tickets. I didn't know Bill Cosby was going on his 70th birthday. Hopefully I'll be around for his next public appearance.
