Bonefish Grill’s Give, Get & Win Sweepstakes

Bonefish Grill, a seafood restaurant owned by OSI Restaurant Partners (they own, among others, Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s, and one of our favorite restaurants – Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion restaurant), is running a special holiday gift card offer where if you give $100 in gift cards, you automatically get a $20 gift card, valid Jan. 1 – Feb. 10, 2010, plus an entry into their Give, Get and Win Sweepstakes. If you win the sweepstakes, you could win $5,000 cash and $5,000 you can give to a charity of your choice. You can buy the certificate in a restaurant or online but you have to register the card online to participate in the sweepstakes.
A Maryland/DC/Virginia chili chain, Hard Times Cafe, always does this same type of promotion around the holidays and until they closed the one near us, we used to buy at least a $100 in gift certificates because it was any easy $20 off. If you live near a Bonefish Grill and you enjoy their food, taking this promotion is a no brainer. If you don’t, well… then it doesn’t really make much sense, now does it? 
I also have a bonus today, as Bonefish Grill has given us a $25 gift certificate to give away to one lucky Bargaineering.com. First, check to see that there is a local Bonefish Grill near where you live. Then, if you have one nearby and you would like to win the certificate, just leave a comment below with the menu item you’d most likely get the next time you visited before Sunday, November 22nd for your chance to win.
Me? I’d probably get the Chilean Sea Bass in a Pan Asian glaze. Mmm… I do love me that Patagonian toothfish.

Can you please disclose the terms and conditions of this Sweepstakes? How will the winner be chosen? How many entries are allowed? How often? How about the person who posts with different names and uses 15 different email addresses? Regarding the gift cards, this is definitely a good deal if you live near a Bonefish Grill. There prices are comparable with other good seafood chain restaurants. I would get: Bang Bank Shrimp ($7.90) for starters, the Chilean Sea Bass ($23.50) and/or the Snake River Rainbow Trout ($15.90), with their Garlic Whipped Potatos and Steamed Asparagus ($1xtra), followed by the Creme Brulee ($5.50). Interstingly, the prices are from MD-Gaithers. But, in northern state, the prices are higher: $8.50, 24.50, 16.30, 5.50 respectively.
This is why lawyers are rich, this is just a simple giveaway of a gift certificate that Bonefish Grill sent me. The terms and conditions are that I’m going to pick a name at random, you are allowed one entry per person. I’ll check IPs for duplicates and DQ anyone who tries to scam me and every other honest reader of this site.

Also, IP isn’t very reliable. Personally, I have four statically assigned to me, and I could grab a hundred more if I wanted. They wouldn’t even all come from the same ISP, so they would be virtually impossible to trace. Unfortunately, there really isn’t a better way either… at least without requiring real names and other personally identifying information on every entrant and verifying them.
I agree that it’s not reliable but there’s not much I can do to prevent outright fraud… and it seems like a lot of effort to increase your chances on a $25 gift certificate.

Most of the restaurants near me offer something like this. Most of them I have seen is $10 if you buy $50. Most have that stipulation where you can only use the $10 during a certain period, but I have seen some that don’t.

I just received a coupon in the mail for $10 off a $25 purchase at Bonefish. I was thinking of going anyway and now that I know about the gift card deals, I’ll definitely go.

I love these promotions during the holidays. If I know there is a chance I’ll go there in the next year, I’ll pick up a gift card and my bonus. Its a pretty good return on your money for something you know you will use.
