Those cone shaped ones are the standard in Europe. They are not too hard to find and I have seen them at one of Sam's, BJ's or Costco.

I think we tend to replace things because it often costs more to fix a problem. Think of how much it would be to take a small FM radio to a repair man and have him spend his time on it. Then think of how much it costs to buy a fresh one that made by an assembly line process in a factory.

My Cuisinart uses the #4 Cone filters. I've never had any trouble finding them at all, so you'll be in good shape when your 4 million runs out. :)

Have the same coffeemaker - when I can't find the unbleached cone filters I buy the regular round unbleached ones. I fold them into a cone shape - 99% of the time they work great.

How funny!

Glad you found an excuse to resurrect the coffeemaker, and figured out how. Betcha you'll discover Costco's coffee is one heckuva lot better than Gevalia, too....
