Not when you check your own score. If someone else checks your score, yes it can affect your score.

I always attributed this to Heisenberg and his Uncertainty Principle. I guess it's the same, but it's interesting how the concept is taught different in different places.

Annualcreditreport.com only gives you the report, not your score. I forgot to link to it in my original comment though, thanks Alex.

You CAN get your credit score for free per the U.S. Congress' action last year. You can see it via www.annualcreditreport.com. Don't go to freecreditreport.com because it's not free, you have to sign up for their program.

You can't get your score for free unless you sign up for those free trials like those at FreeCreditReport. You can get a free credit report (history, no score) once from each credit bureau every 12 months (from AnnualCreditReport.com).

FICO 08 has changed some things about how your credit score is calculated. One of the changes is that hard pulls are now weighed less and do not impact your credit score as much as it use to.

You might like to know that WaMu tells you what your score is all the time. It is part of their online services. No inquiry required.
