You will find that that same card only gives 2% now for gas and grocery store purchases and 1 percent for everything else. The 5 percent offer was a promotional offer.

On these Citi cards, they are very expensive to use outside the US. They charge a 3% fee on each foreign currency transaction. I decided to use the citi card to get to the $50 rebate by paying part of my hotel bill last week with it. A $719.72 charge on my hotel also included a $23.10 finance charge from Citi. Having never seen this before, I decided to check, and my AAdvantage Citi card and the one you recommend also have this.

What a crock!

If I can get the 5% elsewhere, I will. (I just looked at the Chase website, and only found a 3% gas [6% intro] rebate)

Also, the Chase Rewards credit card has the same sort of "bonus" with regard to gas and groceries and allows up to $600 a year in bonuses.
