I have had a drivers edge card since 1995. I took advantage of a 1.9%/ 0 fees balance transfer a couple years back. I received a letter from you saying their would be a yearly fee, since I did'nt charge anything else on the card. I could opt out of the card and keep my deal for the 1.9% so thats what I did. Why would you want to lose a customer like me?? Never late in 16 yrs. Besides I used the citi Diamond card for everyday purchases. We have an 800 plus credit score and we now use Bank of America credit card. Charles Baldridge

Driver's Edge is also part of the Thank You Redemptions network, so you can cash out for store gift cards (= almost cash). Also, when you fax in your service receipts, they credit you off your next bill, so there is no trip to the bank required. And you can also get the cash out if you buy a car (new or used)... I think that all you have to do is send in the receipt -- except in this case they'll cut you a check instead of crediting your card. If you're willing to play fast and loose, you could probably work up your own receipt and send it in. After all, if you were to buy from a private party, the best you could expect would be a homemade (computer-generate) receipt. Seems like there would be no way of verifying that you didn't just mock up a receipt for yourself without ever buying the car. I'm not recommending this, just saying that it's probably possible.

I got in last year when it's offering 5% everything ($500 cap though) for 7 months. it was really something sweet! the redemption is truly hassel free, and very fast! I was able to redeem my 30k maintenance ticket, got the credit in the same cycle when it was charged! routine oil change charges... good as cash if you do drive.
