You read the title right… you can buy a condo in the Playboy Mansion if you have a cool $2.9 million sitting around in a bank account (or you can get a mortgage loan for that amount). Unfortunately, it’s probably not the Playboy Mansion you’re thinking about, the one located in Los Angeles, CA. The condo for sale is located at the original Playboy Mansion, located at 1340 North State Parkway, Chicago, IL 60611, unit #1S.
CNN Money has a tour of the unit and the grounds. It was built in 1903 for a cool hundred grand and sported seventy two rooms. Hefner bought it in 1959 for $400,000 and then put $400,000 of renovations in it, until leaving for sunny California in 1974. Hefner donated it to the Art Institute of Chicago, who later couldn’t afford maintenance and sold it to developer Bruce Abrams. Developers converted it into seven condo units and now one of those is available for sale!
3,000+ square feet, three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, a garden, and a sign on the door with the Latin inscription – “Si Non Oscillas, Noli Tintinnare.” Nice.

I’m from Chicago. I’ve been by the Playboy Mansion hundreds of times (never been inside though). No, the girls don’t come with it. They’ve all gone to California with Hefner & his wife.
