Credit Cards with 0% Interest on Purchases

It’s holiday season so everyone’s looking for a little edge, that’s why I’ve compiled a list of credit cards that will offer you 0% interest on purchases for up to 12 months. You shouldn’t be apply for these cards if you don’t plan on paying off the debt after the 0% promotional period because carrying credit card debt is probably the worst financial decision you can make. Instead, I recommend that you make your holiday purchases, whether it’s gifts, travel, or something else; then put that money into a high yield savings account like ING Direct, and collect the interest for the next 6 – 12 months. $2,000 can turn into about $90, which is worth a nice little dinner for two next holiday season, consider it a gift from me to you.
Also, earlier I wrote “up to 12 months,” but as you’ll see below, I don’t list any cards where the promotional period is less than “up to 12 months.” That’s credit card company speak for “we’ll give those applicants who are qualified a period of 12 months” and gives them the latitude to give less if they feel like it. I would guess that 12 months is more typical than less than twelve months. The six month cards simply can’t give you twelve months, so I didn’t list them. I figure twenty-plus cards is enough to get you going anyway.
