Delaware Residents Get Two Free Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

I’m a big fan of compact fluorescent bulbs and I’ve installed them throughout my house where they’ve made sense because of the potential energy savings they represent. If you live in Delaware and have been curious about these funny looking light bulbs, you’re in luck. In conjunction with the kickoff of the Delaware Energy An$wers program, folks who live in Delaware will receive a coupon in the mail that they can redeem at a public library in October for two free compact fluorescent light bulbs.

From their press release:

To kickoff the Energy An$wers Program, free compact fluorescent light bulbs will be provided to all Delaware residential electric customers. The free light bulb campaign, “Flip the Switch, Delaware…and Save!” is a partnership between Delaware libraries and DNREC’s Delaware Energy Office to distribute the bulbs at libraries throughout the state. Electric customers will receive a flyer in their mailbox with program information and a coupon for two free compact fluorescent bulbs. Residents can redeem the coupon at any Delaware public library during the month of October.

Here’s a great article about Walmart using it’s economic muscle to push CFs

I love my CF bulbs. The only drawback is that they don’t always fit into the lamp globes you have because they’re sort of squarish in shape. Keep that in mind and you can use yours well if you plan out your overhead lamp purchases properly.

In 2 years, I haven’t ever had to replace the one in my walk-in closet! (It’s the kind where you walk all the way through to the bathroom, so it stays on a lot longer than a normal closet light. It’s the dressing area, place to sort laundry, vanity, etc. Ok, I admit it, I use it as my bedroom and live there! Just kidding.)
