e-Rewards Survey Program A Waste

e-Rewards is another survey network that awards you ‘e-Rewards’ whenever you fill out their surveys. The thing that sinks e-Rewards is what those e-Rewards actually get you – glorified coupon codes and prizes of diminished value. At the lowest tier, the $25 e-Reward level, the rewards are things like 500 frequent flier miles to Northwest or American Airlines, $25 off a purchse of $75 from eBags, and $25 off a $50 purchase from MagMall. Why don’t they give out straight cash? Because it’s cheaper to give you those type of offers. Even at the next level, the $50 level, you don’t see any rewards of value. $50 off $250 at AbtElectronics, $50 off a $125 order from eBags, and a thousand miles for Northwest or American Airlines are just some of the fantastic rewards. So I ask, why bother? Even if you were to give me $50 in e-Rewards for a 5 minute survey, I honestly wouldn’t know what to do with the points.

My two favorite survey networks are Pinecone Research and Opinion Outpost, I’ve written how much I enjoy being in both networks before. While getting into Pinecone Research is difficult (you have to find the signup link), all you need to do to get into Opinion Outpost is apply. Both programs pay you cold hard cash.

At $25, you can get 6 coupons for a free Blockbuster rental every month. After that, just cancel and sign up with another e-mail, rinse, repeat. Keep me in a constant supply of free rentals.

    • Angela says:

Maybe I should look into the Blockbuster reward; but my kids love Pizza Hut. That is where I see a problem. I just stop doing the surveys. It just is not worth the $5 coupon. I get a better deal by contacting the store and asking what the deal is for the day.

  2. Grant says:

I found a link to Pinecone Research signup at http://www.internetpaidsurveys.com
Look for “Pinecone Signup Link 1″ on the right side. Hope it is still working
Apart from Gozing and Pinecone there are some surveys like Mysurvey and Surveysavvy which I really like

  3. LAMoneyGuy says:

Yea, the only things worth anything are the free rentals, and the Hilton Points. I am a member of the Hilton Honors program, and have gotten free hotel stays out of it. You can exchange $50 e-reward bucks for 5000 points. Granted it takes about 20,000 points for a free room, but it doesn’t hurt.

Yea, the $50 off $150 puchase type of crap is totally useless. Even the cruises are things like $100 off a 7 day cruise. Gee thanks.

  4. GardenGirl says:

I LOVE the magazine subscriptions. Absolutely no cost!!! And the Borders reward is dollar for dollar. Great!

  5. Theresa says:

Noone has mentioned on the survey errors!! I’ve been a member for a few months and EVERY SINGLE SURVEY I’ve done, minus one, I have to email them to get credit, because after 15-40 mins of filling out the survey it says “finishing up please wait etc” and then the browser just closes up. And as I mentioned, no credit until I contact them! I find this VERY suspicious and have mentioned it to them time and again, with no reasons given. After my next $15 towards Borders, I’ll try out another site. I think this one is a SCAM.

    • Deb in CA says:

I’ve been a member since Feb 2009 and the last few months the surveys I’ve taken end up in an error usually about the last question with

      Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Waste of time anymore as this compnay used to be more reliable!!!

  6. Luv2Race says:

I’ve never had aproblem with one of their surveys. Take a look at who’s really running the survey next time. Most of them are run by other companies. e-Rewards is just passing you over to their website.

  7. Alice Root says:

Does anyone have a phone # for e-rewards. I have accumulated money and can’t get in to my account to redeem anything.

  8. Luv2Race says:

Their webiste has a form you can use to contact the member services department. https://www.e-rewards.com/contactus.do They usually reply pretty quickly.

  9. Alice Root says:

I have used their form and the only answer I get is an automated form to get a new password in which they state, a new password will be e-mailed to me and I never get the e-mail. I can’t get in touch with a person. Thank you for your response though.

  10. Jeffrey Collin says:

    The phone number is 1 888-203-6245 or 214 782-2800

  11. Tristen says:

Theresa, I’m pretty sure e-rewards isn’t a scam, they are registered with the bbb.org. Also in regards to the survey errors, I have been a member for a while and have never gotten a survey error while taking one of their surveys. This may have happened to you because of your internet connection or the type of browser you are using. Dial up isn’t the best choice when takig surveys since you can loose connection easily. I have a cable modem and even when I do loose connection I fix the connection and return to the survey that I am doing.
Luv2Race also has a point, you are usually directed to another site that is actually conducting the survey so if you encounter problem while taking their survey you can always contact them about it as well. By telling them about the problem they can fix it and when you do take more surveys conducted by them you hopefully won’t encounter anymore error problems.

    • lorena says:

I have to say that I have also been doing the e-rewards surveys and I am fine with them. I have received my A&E gift cards and continue taking the surveys today. Thanks e-rewards. I have nothing to lose but my spare time when I am bored and gift cards to gain to shop with…. :)

  12. Lola Bower says:

I tried to activate the e-rewards survey, but I don’t think it worked. Nothing happened when I clicked on the email add, and I do not know how to cut and paste.

  13. Joseph W. Berlinger says:

An absolute scam. Gave them 100 points for a $50.00 Target gift card four months ago and still nothing but excuses–no card –no reply–nothing

  14. cheryl says:

rewards is not a scam at all. I do several online surveys that pay money and i have to say that the one downfall of this site is no cash. but as a frequent flyer of nwa this was a great way for me to earn more miles. So for me this is perfect. i have added several thousand miles to my already accumlated ones with the airlines and am getting ready to take a round trip from seattle to amsterdam with all my miles im getting this trip for 143.00 ( taxes etc) so this is a great reward for me… :)

  15. Luv2Race says:

I don’t see the rewards that you talk about. AbtElectronics? MagMall? I’ve got a couple of gift cards, some FF mile programs, magazines,

  16. Angela says:

I agree. I want to redeem a coupon from Pizza Hut; but it is only worth $5. It has taken me several surveys and time to get this wonderful $5; because they will only give you the coupons in $5 increments. As you know, Pizza Hut will only take one coupon with an order.

  17. Sam says:

True, rewards on eRewards are totally unappealing. Discounts are not good. I used it for miles and some magazine subscriptions but I will be leaving them – not worth the time and effort.

  18. Christopher Foley says:

Been a member on and off for 3 years. It’s just a total rip off site for the amount of time invested. I stay a member because a year ago they sent me an invite for a medical survey, I qualified, and it paid $71. Cash! Not there e reward bucks! It took about 5 weeks for the check, but still not bad. I have emailed them countless times complaining about there incentives and it just falls
on deaf ears! I stay for the simple fact I shop at Macy’s quite often, and they fo offer a coupon code for $10 off a $50 order. And they did offer a 1 year mag subscription for Maxum. Nothing else to me is worth a thing! HERE IS ANOTHER WAY THEY BURN YOU ALSO. ON QUITE A FEW OF THE INCENTIVES, THEY CAN ONLY NE CASHED PUT ONCE PER 6 MONTHS OR ONCE PER YEAR! ALSO, ALL INCENTIVE MONEY GETS WIPED OFF YOUR ACCOUNT AFTER ONE YEAR. SO YOU CANT REALLY PILE A BUNCH OF MONEY UP AND GET A LARGE QUANTITY OF GIFT CODES AT ONCE! THEY CLAIM THEY EMAIL YPU 30 AHEAD IF TIME TO LET YOU KNOW, BUT I NEVER GOT IT!
Here is one plus, if your into gaming, and your an active buyer at GAMESPOT, THEY, meaning Gamespot, will sent you an invite to join there survey panel! The drawback is, E-REWARDS RUN IT! the way it works is you get the e-reward bucks when you complete a GAMESPOT survey. THEY GO ON YOU E-rewards account. Now, the good part. If you are a Gamespot member, you can use the e-reward buck to buy GAMESPOT GIFTCARDS! Not a 25% off of your bill type thing, a normal Giftcard! But if your not a member of that panel, then the rewards don’t even show up on the E-Rewards site incentive page!
All in all, this site is one of the worst for making good money or good incentives!
This is no joke, I make about $200-$300 per month taking surveys online, and doing focus groups. It’s taken me all of 3 years to figure out what sites are worth my time and effort, but if you have time and need some extra cash, it can be done! Just not on this E-Rewards site! If you want some info on good sites, let me know. cmf221244yahoo. It’s not the proper address, but if you know emails, you can figure out the rest!

  19. lalala says:

I hate when people complain about something for pretty much nothing. A few mins here to fill out a survey to get some stuff isn’t really asking a lot. I’ve been a member for a few years now. I’ve never had an issue with anything they’ve done, and gotten all my rewards promptly when choosing them. (magazine subscriptions and giftcards) Not everyone will have the same experience, but some of you are just being way to picky. You shouldn’t be doing these kinds of things if you want awesome rewards. Get real people.

  20. BeachBum says:

eRewards is a scam and a waste of time. First off they get you into all of these `surveys’ which you almost NEVER can complete because they are tailored just such that you spend a huge amount of time answering and just before the end you answer some question not to their `liking’ and the drop you out of the ‘survey’. Up pops a window stating that … they already have enough of your type opinions for this survey… and they bounce you out to some 3 or 4 question lifestyle page and then back to your e-Opinions account page. That’s it. No credit for all the time you spent on the ‘survey’, nothing, nada, zilch, zip and just a few cents credit for their lifestyle questions.

@…they already have enough of your type opinions for this subject…WTF? What kind of `survey’ is that? You’ve completed 80% or so and they run across an answer they don’t like, so your bounced out and your time and effort are for nothing! Is that a ‘survey’ or a tailored rip-off?

This must be where all those BS product claims beginning with ‘A nationwide survey concludes…’ Yeah, right! More like ‘A nationwide survey tailored exactly to our desiredresults concludes…’

Then there’s the ‘products’ (aka. ‘promotional discounts)’ that’s available with your e-Rewards `cash’ worth about $0.25 on the dollar. So…

If you are ‘fortunate’ enough to get through their 20 minute `survey’ in a few days you may see a credit to your account for $5 (which is really about $1.25). That equates to about $3.75 an hour for your time and the ability to spend it on a product or service you probably don’t want or need.

  21. usd87 says:

people why the complaining. All these cost are time, a little bit of it. When your bored pr just find yourself doing nothing, then these surevey’s come in good hands…:). People complain about doing it and you are receiving free things….FREE, for answering some ?’s. The rewards that they offer may not be the best, but hello they are free…..I just received an American Eagle Outfitters $25 gift card, and all i had to do was fill out some survey’s. It’s not like we are forced to do them.

  22. Mike says:

Most unethical company – expire points w/o notice – no email, nothing. Anyway, their points are pretty much worthless. Hate them!!!! Recommend avoiding at all costs – you will save much time and annoyance.

  23. Lisa says:

This survey site is NOT a scam! I just qualified for my THIRD $25.00 gift card for Gamestop which will be goin ginto my kids stocking this year. It usually takes me about 3-4 months but when I hit the $50 mark, I cash out and they send me the giftcard, usually in about 2 weeks! Absolutely worth my time to get $25 free to a place my kids love!

    • Kitty says:

I’m with you, Lisa! I’m collecting GameStop ards, too. And like many others have said, there’s nobody with a gun to your head forcing you to do these surveys. It’s FREE!!! Companies are looking for opinions in certain demographics – that’s what all the filtering questions are for. Why would they want an opinion on lawnmowers from someone who doesn’t have or use one? Sheesh.

  24. stephanie says:

the website isn’t a scam however the rewards are worthless. I finally settled on pizza hut coupons since i don’t fly, use hotel room points, or shop at any of the retailers that they offer but the coupons expired before I had a chance to use them and you can’t use them with any special offer or pricing. I received an invite through another one of my email addresses and this one had the option for Gamestop gift cards (my other account doesn’t have this option) so I signed up for a second account. I had to accumulate $50 to get a $25 card but I did it and less than two weeks after I requested the card I received it and just in time for Christmas. I think someone mentioned pinecone research. I can vouch for them- an excellent company who pays about $3 per survey through paypal usually a day or two after you complete the survey. Also the best part for me is sometimes I qualify to try a product before it comes available to the public which is an incentive in itself

  25. Paul says:

E-rewards is okay, but i’ve cashed out a couple of times with the Hilton rewards points. So i’ve gotten a free hotel there and free magazine else where. Not the best survey company but its okay.

  26. ron says:

all you folks out there that like to fly and enjoy magazines, E-rewards might be just for you. I’ve gotten the bait and switch there, however. After the pre-screening questions, then went to the actual survey, then in the end through a few points to me and stated sorry we’ve met our quota already. i think they’re stealing our time and points form us. I do know the big difference from mere screening questions and actual personal questioning detailed surveys.

  27. Lasmert15 says:

I like it because of the American Eagle gift card. At the $45 you get a $25 American Eagle gift card. And I’m pretty sure they are legit, because American Eagle sent me a link to join the panel.

  28. cora says:

Hey how do i get the gift cards i got a offer from ae but in my account it doesnt give me gift card opt. its all airline miles or blockbuster and pizza hut …

  29. Brian says:

eRewards isn’t a scam. Been a member for years. Unfortunately, you do a lot of surveys for the rewards, and the rewards could be better. Also, it’s true what some fellow above said about being often disqualified after you’ve spent some time filling out 80% (or whatever) of their survey.

In response to the person who said it’s “free”… I have to disagree. Your time is the most valuable commodity you have. Maybe your time is worth nothing, but mine is valuable. :) If companies want me to spend my time filling out surveys, then I’m going to do that for the company that offers me the best rewards. It’s really that simple.

In short, eRewards is legitimate, but I’m guessing there is a better survey site out there.

  30. Cathy says:

I just found out today that e-rewards is complete garbage and a BIG waste of time! Just a few days ago after completing one of their stupid surveys (which I’ve been doing for the past year), I noticed my accumulated e-rewards balance was $102.00. Today, when I go in and do a few more surveys, I see that my balance was down to $36!!! WTH?! So I investigated and it turns out that your e-rewards currency expires and they take 75% of it!!!! That is absolutely ridiculous, considering that I spent all this time doing surveys and I EARNED these rewards. I didn’t even get a notice or anything about the expiration. Highly deceptive if you ask me. So I canceled my membership.

Don’t even bother with this company. It’s a freakin joke.

  31. Brian says:

How long do you have before they expire? That’s a shame. Never happened to me, but I don’t keep much of a balance. Soon as I get $25 (it takes months for me), I turn it into a couple of free Blockbuster used movies.

  32. Tammy says:

People will find anything to complain about and are never satisfied. People this isn’t a job position. Stop looking to get paid big money and prizes for a few minutes of your time. There are actual positions for that in which you can apply for if you search around. Stop being lazy. The page works for most and I’ve been satisfied with it as well. I use it for the Gamestop cards which in this day and age comes in handy for an avid game player. The site doesn’t ask for a monthly subscription like most fraudulent sites out there. There’s no personal information involved. All you are doing is taking a survey for a few minutes. And it doesn’t take that long. You get rewarded whether you take the full survey or not. Yes the rewards are a bit on the cheap side. But for someone who uses those items on a regular basis, it comes in handy. People complain about things being too expensive and never receiving anything for free but when something free drops in your lap you complain as well. I just don’t get it.

  33. Kim says:

Hi everyone..I’ve been using eRewards for quite some time, & I’ve never had a problem! However, I see people talking about the GameStop giftcards, & I can’t seem to find them under my Rewards section! Am I missing something?!
    Thanks!

    • Vince says:

I think it depends on how you were invited into erewards. I was invited in through Gamespot and it is one of the options on my menu.

  34. Kim says:

Hi everyone..I’ve been using eRewards for quite some time, & I’ve never had a problem! However, I see people talking about the GameStop giftcards, & I can’t seem to find them under my Rewards section! Am I missing something?!
    Thanks!

  35. Monica says:

I’ve been a member of e-rewards for a few years and have pretty much just used it to earn skymiles on Delta or magazines. This year is the first time they’ve offered gift cards on my account, I cashed out for a Macy’s gift card about a month ago and still haven’t received it.

  36. Sunshine says:

    I signed up at e-rewards 2 years ago,and I’ve gotten several Gamestop gift cards(I’m a gamer).
I’ve never tried for their other rewards, because nothing else interests me.But it’s helped me to buy some games that I want but can’t afford otherwise right now.

  37. Anonymous says:

I’m with Sunshine. I love the $25 gamestop gift cards. I can get my kids usually 2 games with the card every 50 points you earn which racks up pretty fast. In the past 4 or 5 months I’ve gotten at least 3 gift cards.

    • Vince says:

When I applied to get my most recent card a week ago the fine print said they were limiting the Gamestop cards to one request per calendar quarter. I think this is a new policy but since I’m averaging 4 cards a year it works out fine.

  38. daenyll says:

I use e-rewards thru upromise and have gotten 50 dollars so far that went to my sallie mae loans. was somewhat dissappointed at the end of last year when they raised the amount to get a transfer, I was very close to a payout but had to take the lower value before the funds expired. I doubt I would be interested in this program after my loans are paid off, but a few free bucks to lower the interest is great.

  39. timmy says:

I have been a member of e-rewards for almost 3 years now and i have been rewarded for my surveys. I have got to cash out my points in e-rewards currency for gift cards over the last 3 years. I have cashed out Macys cards all the time and i have not had any problems so far. I dont know what you guys are talking about but it is still the best program after pinecone research.

  40. mary1 says:

I have been a member for about two years. They did let me know that my points were going to expire, so I did end up using my points on a magazine subscription, then about two weeks later they said they were going to extend the deadline for everyones points. I would have saved them for a gift card if I new they were going to do this. I also agree with many of you that I get to to the very end of a survey one of which was to take 45 minutes, at the 35 min mark it kicked me out and gave me nothing, I’ve complained about this multiply times, and the
last time they finally gave me credit, but now I have not received any invites for surveys for over three weeks

  41. Becky says:

Really people? I have been with e-rewards for so many years I can’t even remember and have NEVER had a problem with them. BTW – the rewards start at $10 and it only takes a few minutes of your time to get to that level. I have received hundreds of dollars of free magazines, movie rentals… the list goes on. It can not get any easier than this. As for those people complaining about not being told that that the rewards expire – do you read English? It clearly states this in their terms and conditions and they send you an e-mail before they expire – duh! Get a grip…

  42. Brian says:

    Becky, relax. :)

eRewards is legit. The going rate isn’t fantastic, but none of the sites that pay for surveys will make you rich. It is what it is. At least it’s legitimate.

  43. janell says:

I have been a member of e-rewards since 2006. I’ll say that over the past year, the rewards have become a lot more….rewarding (as far as I am concerned). I like the program.

  44. Joan says:

How about the Macy’s gift cards. I have bought many gifts with these gift cards. I just treated myself to a $100 handbag which cost me $10.

  45. cee says:

e-rewards is horrible! i have over 82 in points & can’t use them on a thing! i’m not offered pizza hut or gamestop (neither of which i’d really want anyway), & the ONLY thing available is $75 off of a $200 macy’s purchase! what kind of freakin deal is that, other than none at all? i don’t fly, so points toward miles or whatever are useless. i’ve had some of the exact same problems that these other people mentioned, so it’s not just a case of people complaining. their rewards suck for the average person, & that’s not an understatement. it should be renamed no-rewards.

  46. Survey Sis says:

“e-rewards” is great – for me – for some things!
After I get the Macy’s FREE shopping gift card (because I shop at Macy’s),the FREE Target shopping gift card (also shop at Target) and my Border’s Bucks (You guessed it! Shop at Border’s, too!), I then look at magazines. My Martha Stewart Living FREE subscription has another year and a half to go! That is all FREE $$$ to me because I purchased things I would have purchased anyway. Simple math will let you calculate whether taking surveys are worth your while. My time is valuable to me so therefore, I take the e-rewards surveys with a goal(s) in mind.

    • SV says:

I agree- it’s been great for me – especially for getting things I would have purchased anyway. I do the surveys when I have downtime and was recently able to renew my Economist subscription – which usually costs $150 per year! It took a while to get to that level, but TOTALLY worth it because I love that magazine but can’t spend that kind of cash right now. That plus the Border’s Bucks and I’m happy :)

  47. Judy says:

I love e-Rewards! If you don’t qualify for the survey, they give you 25 cent. It adds up! I just got a $25 Target gift card. I had to earn $55, but it was easy to do. Patience is the key! It only takes a few minutes a few times a week, be patient and voila!!! Gift Card!!

  48. BuckeyeGirl says:

The rewards are not the same for every member and that’s why people are upset. My sister can earn gift cards to places such as Target, but my mom and I can only get magazines, hotel points, or sky miles or “coupons” off at macys.com, things like that. It isn’t a fair site and that is why people are upset!

  49. nursemommy4 says:

I have been a member of erewards since 4-2004. I have no complaints whatsoever. I mean, why complain? I get magazines for my daughter. Macy’s, american eagle and gamstop giftcards that I give to people at the office for Christmas as well as my kids. I do not have to spend one penny and that is a problem?! Well to the naysayers, if it is such a scam, just cancel your membership and join another panel that you think is more suitable. I mean really. stop complaining about it.

  50. Ezra says:

I dumped them some time ago. You start a survey that they say will last 20 minutes and 18 minutes into it, they tell you that you don’t qualify for the survey and throw you 25 cents as a reward – after capturing 90% of your opinion.

Stay away – much better rewards programs out there.
