As you know, we frequently feature money saving tips related to energy (like this 100 ways to save on electricity), and so we reached out to Tyler Baird, lead project manager at Energy Savers, a student organization under the Centre for Urban Energy at Ryerson University. Located in Toronto, Ontario in Canada, Ryerson and the Centre for Urban Energy look to develop and commercialize innovative solutions to urban energy users through public/private sector collaborations.
Below is a two-part audio interview with Tyler, conducted by our social guru Brandon, in which they talk about overcoming the challenge of changing your energy-using habits as well as going over some of the top-10 biggest energy wasters in your home and tips to solve them.

I’m a huge culprit of phantom load.
I have so much crap hooked up all the time, yet never remember (or even think) to turn off my power strips.
I’d love a downloadable (as opposed to streamable) instance of this so I can put it on a portable device and listen at work. Does such an instance exist?
It’s an upcoming feature but we don’t have it now I’m afraid.
Jim, is there a transcript of the interviews?
I’m aware of the phantom load of my electronics. I went around with my kill-a-watt and figured out what devices took the most while off, power strips, and keep the strips off while not in use. I don’t know the overall savings, but it can’t hurt.
