Until tonight I’ve never had a chance to check out the Redbox DVD Rental service, those red DVD vending machines found in some MacDonald’s franchise locations and even some grocery stores. Its basically a vending machine for DVD movies, you select one from an easy to navigate touch screen, put in your credit card and out comes a movie. The rentals are $1+tax each day and if you keep a movie for more than 25 days, you keep it forever. It’s a pretty slick system with a nice touch screen interface that’s really easy to use (huge touch screen buttons) and it vends out a simple white plastic case with only the DVD inside (with a special bar code).
How does Redbox compare to Netflix? I think it’s better. With each of those you pay a monthly subscription fee, send in your movies (or with Blockbuster you can swap them at a retail location), and watch a limited number of movies a week. With Redbox, you pay $1 each night. You want 15 movies? $15. You want 1? $1. The only weakness is in selection and how unpredictable that can be but for the price, I’m willing to accept that. Plus, as you’ll see in a minute, with promotion codes I’ve never paid for a movie (except when I was late returning it, which cost me a whole dollar!) rental.
One thing to remember is that you can only use one code per credit card, so you can use DVDONME as many times as you have credit cards. I would also recommend writing down all the codes in the event that one of them isn’t active in your geographic region.

seems pretty neat though. Be tempting for people to just swipe and rent a movie while they’re buying fast food or whatever other venue they have these things at.
This is kind of like the DVD rental system at the airport, but more available to the public. Very neat. Thanks for the codes.
I was just goofing around the other day, when I was about to rent a movie from redbox, so I randomly decided to try the word “MOVIE” as the redbox promo code. voila… it worked. Free Movie.

I have a question about the
Redbox Codes you posted. for 12/13/09 (I think that date is right) Anyways YOUR POST SAYS “HAMBUGER, AND CHEESEBUGER” Are those suppose to be “HAMBURGER AND CHEESEBURGER”? Or is it really “buger” INSTEAD OF “BURGER”. Just wondering? If it’s not too much trouble could you send me a reply and let me know which it is? Plus if you have any other Redbox codes I’d love to have them. Until today when I stumbled upon this site, the only code I had was “breakroom”. My kids and I sure rent alot of movies and these codes could save me some bucks.Also would let me get them a movie on the nights I’m totally broke and have to say “I’m sorry guys I don’t have enough money tonite.” That answer makes me the worst mom in the world. At least for that night.

I tried CHILL07 today at a StopNShop in RI. It worked. I didn’t even know these existed until one of the clerks at StopNShop told me “Psst. If you punch in CHILL07 as a promo code, you get a free movie.”
Cool.
I figure it is owed to me since I kept CRANK for over 24 days. Not sure why…just kept forgetting to return it. Of all the movies to keep for 24 bucks, CRANK would definitely not be one of them.

So far they have fraudulently charged me for 8 rentals for which i used different valid free codes. The screen says $0 then the card gets charged. That is against the law.
