Looking for Freebies? Start Here

freebiesThe most frugal way to go is to get something for free. Indeed, you might be surprised at the freebies available around the Internet, and around your town. It’s possible to find things for free just about anywhere you look — as long as you are looking hard enough.

If you are trying to find freebies so that you can save a little money, here are some places to look:

Around Town

If you are looking for freebies around town, you can usually find something if you keep your eyes and ears open. Look for grand openings. In many cases, a grand opening celebration will include free giveaways and drawings, and even offer free food. Additionally, be on the look out for other special promotions and events. You are likely to find plenty of freebies.

If you are looking for free food, there are numerous options. You might not be able to eat free, but many restaurants have kids eat free options. Find out what day of the week your kids can eat free and head over on those days. You can also usually get a free dessert on your birthday, or even a free meal. Sign up for the “birthday club” or equivalent at your favorite restaurant.

Many stores offer free samples of food as you shop. It’s great for a free snack. My husband’s cousin used to offer samples in a warehouse store. He said that there were some people who appeared predictably and had one of their meals each day in free samples. You can also find free food at club events, and often church or community events.

Don’t forget, too, that you can often find free samples in department stores. Many department stores offer free makeup samples, lotion samples, perfume samples, and other health and beauty care samples. Hair salons might give away small samples of product, or you might be able obtain find free samples of medications from your doctor. I once received a free sample of one month’s worth of a regular prescription from my doctor.

Freebies Online

Of course, one of the best places to go if you want freebies is the Internet. You can listen to music for free by frequenting sites like Pandora. Additionally, there are free ebooks available for download. I downloaded Jane Austen’s entire canon to my Kindle, along with several other classics, for free. Look for free books compatible with your ereader; Amazon isn’t the only place to find free books.

There are also numerous web sites that offer you the chance to order free samples and other freebies. If you are looking for freebies and free samples, here are some sites to visit:

  • Giveaway of the Day: This site offers free software each day. Check it for the current giveaway.
  • Thunder Fap: Find different free items and samples in a variety of categories at this web site.
  • MySavings: This site offers a section on free samples that you can choose from.
  • Shop4Freebies: Every day, this site updates a list of freebies available for you to choose from.
  • Start Sampling: You can find freebies that are yours just for the asking, or that you can get by filling out surveys.
  • Go Freebies: Find links to free stuff all over the Internet.

You can also do an Internet search, looking for freebies. Additionally, many retail web sites have sections where you can sign up for free samples.

I’ve taken advantage of some freebies like this before. If you want to be sneaky about it, a lot of real estate open houses also offer free snacks. You’d just have to pretend to be interested in buying a place. One of our local grocery stores does food samples on the weekends and I’m pretty sure some of the customers use it as a meal too.

Many local colleges have events where they offer free food. You can look for flyers or on the schools websites for possible events.

  4. I have a blog that reviews products and services. This way, I received free products and get invites to see movies or dine in a restaurant. In exchange, I have to blog about our experience though I only give honest reviews so it can either be good or bad, depending on our experience.

Thank you for all these freebie possibilities.

That will give you 100 free recipies of this years’s Pillsbury Million dollar BakeOff contest.
You can join that site for free and become a member. They will email you free offers that you fill out a short form and they do mail you the item. Also at year end, they will offer to send you a free calendar for the next year that has lots of recipes.

(This is not free, but if you buy any kind of vitamins for yourself or your family, consider doing business with iherb.com. They have the absolute lowest prices and good web search tools. They mail stuff really really fast like 3 days many times you receive. You get $5 off your first item and I think there is always some kind of free shipping offer. I think my points code at chekcout NON503 will get you extra discount on first order plus I get points that slowly add up to discounts on my purchases. Shipping is very low. Just sayin this if you need any vitamin or health foods for cheap and good service. (Do not expect a whole lot of personal customer service. If something is damaged, they will credit your account for the amount. They will not send you the new item as a replacement. YOu have to order it again, but you don’t have to send the damaged item back. If you open and use your vitamins and do not like them, you do not get a refund.)

I get lots of coupons & great ideas from The Frugal Navy Wife on Facebook. Her blog is great. And for vitamins I watch for buy 1 get 1 sales @ retailers on Nature Made products. Then join their site at http://www.naturemade.com to enter codes from the bottles of vitamins you buy. I get $7 off coupons thru snailmail for doing this.

I continue to be surprised at the volume of free material available through Amazon for Kindle. I’m at 1,123 books, and haven’t paid for one yet. Even assuming 2/3rds of it turns out to be low-grade junk, I’ve got several years worth of reading material in front of me.

  10. Warren says:

For free or very cheap eBooks check out BookBub (www.bookbub.com). After you specify your genres of interest you will receive a daily email with both free and heavily discounted ebook offers from Amazon. Each offer is usually good for just a few days.

Great way to get free reads!
