Getting Your Tax Stimulus Check

Print Print

If you’re wondering where your stimulus check is, try this IRS tool.

Update: The bill has passed, the checks will be mailed out based on this stimulus tax rebate check schedule, so file your returns (even if you didn’t need to) to get your check.

I wanted to make an addendum to the article I wrote about the 2008 Tax Rebate Stimulus package that was recently passed in the House of Representatives. There have been a lot of questions as to how much someone would get, what tax year the rules are applied to, what counts as a “child,” etc.

Over $1200 in credit card promotional offers, take advantage of it!

First off, I think we are still too early in the game to be discussing those things because the Senate still needs to pass a similarly worded bill, the two bills have to be married, and then the President needs to sign it. Then the number crunchers have to do the math and then finally checks will be mailed out in May or June or July. The biggest of the hurdles will come in the Senate but ultimately there still are many hurdles. This “economic stimulus package” (I put it in quotes because there is fierce debate as to the effectiveness of the package) is still far from a certainty. Preparing as if it will appear in a few months would be a mistake.

Secondly, since you won’t have to do anything (you don’t file a form, you don’t call anyone), there isn’t really much you should do. If it goes through, a check will arrive in the mail one day in May or June or July and you’ll find yourself a few hundred dollars richer. If you’re just treading water, maybe that gets you some breathing room. If you’re more financially stable, maybe you put that towards some debt or pad your emergency fund. If you’re looking to make a purchase that’s contingent on getting that check, I’d wait until after it clears before swiping your card.

lastly, don’t believe the mainstream media when they say that a deal has been struck and that you will definitely be getting money. A deal was made in the House, the other chamber has yet to pass something, and Congress’ idea of breakneck speed leaves much to be desired. Do not count on this money!

    Right on!

If you’re elderly and so poor you subsist only on Social Security, you will not get a check. But then likely you don’t pay much tax on your SS anyway. Three hundred bucks would make a difference to you if you were in those straits.

If you’re single and have no kids at home, you’ll get three hundred bucks (maybe) that you can put into your IRA or throw at your credit card debt. I haven’t talked with a single middle-class friend who imagines doing anything other than salting this little windfall into savings.

If you have a bunch of kids, maybe you’ll spend the vast sum on a few trips to the grocery store. If that “stimulates the economy,” hallelujah. But unless you believe in miracles, better not count on it.

what if im 16 and i live at home and go to school but i made bout 8 grand this year do i get a check? and if so how much?

  3. Master Allan says:

What If I moved several times since I filed taxes in Quarter 1 of 2007? I no longer live at my apartment on Florida Avenue. In fact as a contractor overseas all I have in the U.S. is a storage unit and PO Box that no one knows about. Is there some form I can update the government on my location and where to send the check? Surely they understand that people move all the time unless they are going to cut the checks based on tax returns filed on time in 2008.

I really doubt they are going to have any success getting me the refund anytime before April of 2012.

  4. db says:

I’m still hoping this thing doesn’t happen. Personally, I think this got concocted b/c Bush thinks we’ll somehow develop amnesia and forget what a totally evil destructive force he’s been for 8 years in our undying, automatonic gratitude for getting thrown a few scraps.

Uh — not like I have an opinion about this or anything….

  5. db says:

P.S. — The reason I’m hoping this doesn’t happen is I don’t think we can afford this particular rebate at this particular time….it’s spending money the country just doesn’t have….

  6. Ryan S. says:

I have this feeling that I’m just over the threshold to get a check.

I’m retired, I receive Soc Sec and retirement, I pay less then a 100.00 in taxes on my retirement. Will I receive a check?

  8. Dom says:

I am a college student. My parents pay for my college, but i work part time year round and make about 10,000 a year.

Would i be eligible? Or since i am most likely a dependent(father does my taxes) would i most likely not receive one and my parents would receive one instead?

I need to pay off my credit card for booking spring break! :)

    Thanks.

  9. Do you think there will be enough people who spend on their credit card in anticipation of the check that the economy will be stimulated enough that they won’t think we need the stimulus package?

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit! :)

  10. Judy Dragas says:

What happens if you have moved after the last tax season?

  11. joe says:

the way i see it is if you didn’t pay taxes, but you made 3000 or more you get 300. If you made 3000 dollars or more and did pay taxes then you should definetly get something back, but then again this is the Bush administration we’re talking about.

  12. josey says:

what happens if u r married and u file seprate ? does that mean u only get the amount of money as a single person even though u r married and u dont file with ur spouse?

  13. Billie says:

I think that all tax paying citizens should get a rebate. I also think that the elderly who live on social security only and do not pay any taxes should also receive a rebate because they are already struggling to make ends meet and the check will be a godsend to them.

  14. Jo Ann says:

I am retired senior citizen. I pay no income tax; I receive only $643 monthly from SS, what do I have to do to recieve this so-called “Stimulus Check,” or am I totally disqualified because I am so poor?? Seems to me that people in my financial bracket should be the ones receiving it, after all, I paid taxes when I was working!

  15. Krista says:

    To Retirees Receiving Social Security:

You may actually qualify for the stimulus package. Here is the link to the IRS article. http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=179096,00.html Cut and paste, if the link doesn’t work.

Here are some passages lifted from the article.

“Some low-income workers and recipients of Social Security, certain veterans’ benefits and certain Railroad Retirement benefits may qualify for economic stimulus payments this year from the federal government.

In most cases, payments will range from $300 to $600 for individuals and $600 to $1200 for joint filers. Taxpayers may receive $300 for each qualifying child.”

“Normally, certain Social Security, Railroad Retirement benefits and certain veterans’ payments are not subject to income tax. However, the economic stimulus law passed in February contains a special provision allowing Social Security recipients and recipients of certain veterans’ benefits and certain Railroad Retirement benefits to count those benefits toward the qualifying income requirement of $3,000 and thereby qualify for the stimulus payment.”

It involves filing a 1040A with specific instructions from the irs.gov website.

    Please check this out.

  16. Melissa says:

Quote- what happens if u r married and u file seprate ? does that mean u only get the amount of money as a single person even though u r married and u dont file with ur spouse? – Quote

Well then each of you would get $600, which would total $1200, get it.

Quote- Will I get a check if I moved – Quote

Make sure you change you address with the IRS. And if you had your refund direct deposited it will go into your account.

Quote- I am a college student. My parents pay for my college, but i work part time year round and make about 10,000 a year. -Quote

Well your parents should get the money if they are paying for you, they are still supporting you. But if you filled your own claim as not a dependant then you would get.

For any other idiotic question just type in tax stimulus check in your IE browser and it will give you hundreds of pages with answers!

  17. reggie says:

It is my understanding that the amount of the check we recieve will be required back from us when we file taxes next year…if so, why would I spend it only to struggle to pay it back. I didn’t ask for the money in the first place.

  18. Carmelita says:

I’m just wondering will I get this check also. I didn’t work much last year, and didn’t get much back on my tax refund. How do I find out if I’m getting this check or not.

  19. mike says:

people like billy down there make me sick..” i think that everyone should get a rebate whether the paid any taxes or not ” –thats NOT a “rebate” bILLIE..thats welfare..perhaps i should come steal $300 of your money u freakin useless piece of trash..

  20. mike says:

actual reductions in the tax rates would help–this is just welfare for you bums,,,get off the computer and go get a job and stop wondering whether u have a check coming or not,,losers.

  21. Patty says:

Melissa…people have legit questions. They are not idiotic. And quite frankly, you simply copied what was on the IRS website. You are certainly not a know-it-all…but, you sure act like one. Get over yourself.

  22. Patty says:

Mike..aren’t you the hostile one. It seems you need to get over yourself as well. Apparently you and Melissa had some concerns about the rebate check, hence the reason you both ended up here. By the way, I recommend a typing class of some sort…unless your important job in this world of technology does not require the use of a brain cell.

  23. john j spence says:

  24. Shell~Bell says:

Well, I’m happy yet frustrated about the whole thing. First off, it’s nice to actually get something back. I work hard yet, I have nothing after paying rent, bills, diapers, and so on. But, I DO think db (above comment) is a little right… Are we supposed get amnesia and forget about all that Bush did for the past 8 years? And be thankful that we’re getting thrown some scraps just to shut us up and think, “Oh Bush, you’re so nice for creating this package, what a way to help out your fellow Americans”.
PARENTS LOST THEIR CHILDREN, CHILDREN LOST THEIR PARENTS, SISTERS LOST THEIR BROTHERS, AND BROTHERS LOST THEIR SISTERS.
And after spending Billions of OUR money… Here’s $600 bucks for you. Yeah well, I need the money so, I’ll take it spend it and maybe pay my electric bill but, I DO BELIEVE HE HAD THE WROND INTENTIONS. HELP… Maybe for himself

  25. JOE says:

  27. Conor Gavan says:

I have to file for an extension. Will I still receive my check?

  28. Tabitha says:

I totally agree with Shell Bell, however i don’t care why he’s doing it as long as he is doing it. My husband and I really need this money we didn’t even get a tax return for 2007 they claim we owe it all to them and I like to know how when I worked part-time and my husband is struggling to pay all these bills and take care of our kids. How can they determine that we made too much money. Well I think we can never make enough.

  29. christine cayea says:

I want to know if you owe the irs will they take the rebate? We have to pay in every year no matter how much we have taken out of our weekly checks. One would think also, that if you are 73 yrs old you shouldn’t have to work much less pay taxes to make ends meet.

  30. Robin Jernigan says:

If I owe student loans and am paying on them monthly, will I receive my stimulas paymet?

  31. sherry carrillo says:

if me and my spouse filled our taxes together, but my spouse has a taxpayers number. how will the amount be determined

  32. Joseph says:

The funny part about most of your questions is that they are answered on the IRS website. The first link is for general FAQ’s about this stimulus payment and that second link is around when you will be receiving it. The best bet for everyone is just to forget about it, and if you receive a check..great! If not, than oh well. If they had never announced that a bonus check was going to be sent out, most people would not be freaking out right now about it. Obviously yes, if you are posting here then you what to know what’s going on (hence the reason I’m posting here), but all of these questions are answered on their website. So again, best advise I can give all of you is just to forget about it, and hopefully you will be receiving a check.

  33. I file a income tax return i made about 7,00.00 a year.I have a disabled son i take care of i claim him -he is an adult he is autistic.Do i get a refund for him also.

  34. carl d. hester says:

I am tottally disabled & I filed taxes this year, Will I get this stimulas payment?

  35. Amber says:

WHY IS EVERYONE ARGUING ABOUT THIS DAMN CHECK? and i am really tired of hearing the “rich” put down the “poor”. its just a tax check that we deserve for working hard no matter what your income. so stop complaining and being rude to one another!!!!!!!

  36. linda says:

I worked since I was 16 years old.thats 49 years, and paid in taxes from every check.
in the last years I paid in around $9,000.00 a year in taxes.
Now I am disabled and 65 years old. i get a social security check each month.
Any thing I get from the government I have earned.

  37. Michelle says:

I hope this can answer your questions.

    http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/

It is an economic stimulus calculator that the IRS has provided. You enter YOUR information from your tax return. Then they let you know what you can expect provided the information you entered is correct.

They ask – if you can be claimed as a dependent – married filing jointly – how much you earned vs how much you paid – child tax credits -

Stimulus checks will be going out earlier than expected. YAY!

  39. Jennifer says:

Wow, a lot going on here… I don’t blame any one of you, don’t we all wonder about this check? That’s why most of us are all here. I was discussing this with my parents and grandparents earlier today, so I decided to jump online to try to find an answer to a question thrown into the conversation – BUT can’t locate one… even on the IRS website! My sister has been a single mom for more than 5 years and has 3 children, working 2 jobs. However, she doesn’t pay any federal taxes. Her income is low enough and exemptions with the kids are high enough to put her in the bracket of federal exemption from paying in. (I did her taxes for her last year) I know she could really use the money. Taxes were filed, she got a return, yet didn’t pay anything in federal… any rebate for her? Anyone been able to find the answer to this one??? Thanks all :-)

  40. Anonymous says:

    irs.gov

You can go to this website to find out if you’re eligible and how much you could get. Even if you haven’t filed taxes this year you can still file through Oct 10 or 15th I think. If you don’t make enough to file taxes they have a step by step guide to help you file so you can get the rebate.

  41. Billy says:

Even though the idea from this stimulus package is a good one. I don’t appreciate how the government will “rob peter to pay paul” just to put a temporary bandaid on the economy. The sad thing is this is a democracy right?? Why didn’t we get to vote on whether the tax rebate would go into effect. The government is paying us back with our own money that we haven’t even earned yet. How is this fair????

  42. kristi says:

I was in a car accident last year and am still waiting on the litagations to begin. I have not been able to go to work since last year so I was told since I couldn’t work I wont get the stimulus. Isn’t this for people who are in a struggle? Now i wont get any check and neither will my two children since I didn’t make over $3,000. So poor people just have to stay poor while Bush fills his pockets. I always see Comercials on help the hungery in Africa what about the people who struggle here in America who cant get into any programs for help and face loosing thier home and facing homelessness with small children?

  43. Thomas L Curley says:

Effective May 13, 2008 my mail will be forwarded from Homosassa, Fl. to P.O. Box 363, Onset, Ma. 02558. Question: Will the Stimulus Rebate Check be forwarded to my new address? If the IRS will not allow checks to be forwarded please advise me of what I must do.

    Thank you

    Thomas L. Curley

  44. Tami says:

Jennifer – I am in a similar situation as your sister. This is what is says on the IRS website.

“Your payment may be less than the maximum for one or more of the following reasons:
You are single and your net income tax liability is less than $600. If you file Form 1040 net income tax liability is the amount shown on Line 57, plus the amount on Line 52.”

line 57 is likely ZERO if you are a single parent, but line 52 should have a value. So, even though your sister doesn’t owe any taxes she may get a refund. You will need to look at the values on line 57 & 52 on her 1040.

  45. Jarrid says:

I filed my return on time, but I haven’t received my stimulus payment, even though the payment date listed for my Social Security number has passed. Why?

  46. DF says:

Stimulus Payment Schedule for Tax Returns Processed by April 15

    Economic Stimulus Payment Information Center

Economic stimulus payments will be issued according to the last two-digits of the main filer’s Social Security number. For joint filers, the payments will go out based on the person listed first on the return. Payments will be made by either direct deposit or paper check, consistent with how people filed their 2007 tax return.

People who use direct deposit also will be among the first to receive the payments starting April 28. Direct deposits will be made daily and completed by the date listed below:
    DIRECT DEPOSIT

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be transmitted no later than:
    00 through 20 May 2
    21 through 75 May 9
    76 through 99 May 16

Paper checks will also go out based on Social Security number. For Social Security numbers ending in 00 through 09, the paper checks will be mailed starting May 9 and will continue through May 16. A similar process will be repeated in the following weeks.
    PAPER CHECK

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be mailed no later than:
    00 through 09 May 16
    10 through 18 May 23

    19 through 25
    May 30
    26 through 38 June 6
    39 through 51 June 13
    52 through 63 June 20
    64 through 75 June 27
    76 through 87 July 4
    88 through 99 July 11

People who file a return after April 15 will receive their economic stimulus payment, but probably later than the schedule shows. A return must be filed by October 15 in order to receive a stimulus payment this year. See the online calculator for an estimate of the amount you will receive.

A small percentage of tax returns will require additional time to process and to compute a stimulus payment amount. For these returns, stimulus payments may not be issued in accordance with the schedule above, even if the tax return was processed by April 15.

I am married and filed jointly but Im a stay at home mom and I dont recieve income other than what my husband gets. Does this mean that I dont qualify for the stimulus check but my husband and daughter do?

  48. Cameron says:

Heres one thing everyone asking these questions can do……Wait until the end of July….If u recieved a check congrats….if not then you didnt. Its that easy, dont plan for these checks because they are a ’stimulus’ check not a ‘hand out check’ We all struggle but thats not because of the government its the choices we make in our choosen profession. The other thing is that this was not an idea of the Bush administration everyone passed the bill, republican AND democrate, it has to do with helping Americans NOTHING else!

and a comment for “Shell~Bell” and people like her, there is no draft right now every single person serving in the military made a choice in thier life to become a soldier, they recieve a stead paycheck, great education, bonuses, and discounts on EVERYTHING! but there is a price for all of this and going to war is this price, its terrible to hear about ANYONE dying, but stop blaming Bush for everything. Take some responsibility for your actions! for every action there is a Equal and oposite reaction.

Hi, i just got my stimulus payment. My husband works, i am a stay at home mom, and we have two kids. We only got 1,200.00, and i am just wondering, since i am a stay at home mom, and dont earn income, is that why i didnt get the 600.00 for my part since we did file together. Please let me know if this is correct. I am sure it is, but i just dont understand why we didnt get the 1800.00 like everyone told me we were getting??

confused a bit. I followed the instruction on the IRS website and it showed we were getting 600 back, great. but line 52 is blank on my form because we had to attach another paper, form 8901 to it as an additional child tax credit. does the website just show what you are getting and forget to add in the child tax one or did they mess up on our taxes and we won’t get the extra 300 for our son because that line is blank?

I went to the calculator and it said I was getting 600.00. I received 300.00. Why is this? I’m single make more than 3,000 and less than 75,000. My family says I was only supposed to get 300. But my friends all make about the same as I do and got 600.00. Am I right or is my family?

  57. roland f harbour sr. says:

  58. Penny says:

Like mentioned several times, this is not a welfare check, it’s a stimulus check. The government is hoping that people will take this check and go BUY stuff to stimulate the economy. When it comes to keeping the economy going, is it the poor people or the richer people that keep it going? The poor people don’t have the money to go out and buy things like people with a nice income. Sure, they buy food and pay rent and utilities, but everybody does that!
As Kristi said…the poor stay poor, and that’s about right. The poor stay poor due to their choices they make or made in life.
I liked what Cameron said and agree 100%! Everybody has a choice in this life.
Everybody here had and still has the opportunity for an education. The ones that chose to not educate are the ones struggling and have nobody to blame other then themself. It’s NOT the governments fault!!
Like mentioned several times above…all these questions can be answered by going to their site or simply doing a google search, but then I guess it’s much easier to have others do it for you then to do it for yourself.
As for this check, I already got my 1,200.00. I didn’t need it and didn’t really care if I got it or not, but it was a nice addition to my checking account.

  59. Rose Wedge says:

I filed my income tax forms and had to pay an extra $873.. So far the only letter I recieved from the IRS was to tell me to file. People tell me that they recieved a letter telling them how much and when. My ss ends in 01 ,checked with the bank where my ss check id deposited every month and so far nothing!!!

  60. vickie holcomb says:

Please explain to me why my husband and I only got $600.00 instead of $1200.00. I am on social security disability and only receive $979.00 a month, and my husband only made around $48000.00. He does not claim me as a dependent. Thank you for your help

    • Lizzy says:

first of all, the average hosehold brings in ONLY 35,000 a year (us poor people only bring in about 15,000). Second that $979.00 you get from SSD is free, dont bitch. And third, you only got 1200 last year if you filed married, that means he would have had to claim you to get it. he filed single so you only got 600.

      • Bryan says:

        Lizzy,

  62. kelly says:

what the heck is everyones problem??? why are you all so freaking mean to one another? who the heck do you think you are talking bad about people you don’t even know. so what if you are rich penny? that is great for you but i know people who are a lot smarter than you and are poor. not everyone is poor due to choices they made. some were born into poverty and have no way out. yes its easy to say go get an education but are you the one paying for it? the people talking about soldiers well it is a chioce to go into the military and to go fight for this country but who else is going to do it? all of you people that are bitchin about stupid stuff and are all freakin talk how about you go over seas and see if this country still means as much to you. or how about you rich people that dont know what its like to lose someone to this war yes it was their choice to go over there but they did it for you as much as for there self. so shut up everybody unless you have something nice to say or something that will benefit the people around you if not dont keep coming on here degrading people you dont know just cause you think you are smart or have more money

  63. kelly says:

people are fighting for your freedom penny and you are saying things like that who do you think you are. how about sit on your ass and do nothing about it or how about you go fight for your own freedom and see how long you last

  64. Penny says:

Sorry to upset you Kelly, it was not my intention! If promoting education is an awful thing to you, then there isn’t much I can say.
I was one of the “poor people” a long time ago. I had no money to pay for education so I found a way to get a scholarship. I went to school full time, worked part time and took care of my 3 young kids ages 5 years to 4 months. When I turned 30 I then served our country with the United States ARMY.

Just so ya know…there is a way out!

  65. janene white says:

  67. Jason says:

That posting by “ellen & tom schmitt” was just absured, my god could you prove your a racist any more? I know everyone wants to ‘blame’ someone when they dont get something for free, but it seems to me this posting is running rampant with inbred minds trying to ‘crunch’ numbers. Excuse me Kelly if that hurts someones ‘feelings’ but hey this is America and these people have a right to be stupid, and I have a right to call what I see. Penny I agree with what you said and I feel your posting was very well thought out and polite. ‘You cant beat a dead horse’ This is how I look at it nobody here is ‘poor’ you have a computer, the internet, and a power supply to run both of those…..Poor people have neither of these things. Just be honest everyone, your the ones who created the poor lifes you lead by your choices to become in debt and live paycheck to paycheck, and now you want someone to bail you out, and when you dont get your hand out right on time you bite the hand that feeds it. I for one would rather live in a country with Bush running it, than go to another country where the average family ‘household’ income is $12,000 per year…..thats household…..not per person.

  68. sharon says:

First I have to say this is the first time I ever responded to a posting. But , when I read tom and ellen’s comment, (even though it is too stupid, lame and really, really, sad to respond to let alone even aknowledge) I just couldn’t help myself. First I’m so sorry that you are so destituded that you can’t wait for a check that you never even knew you would receive until the first of the year. Second, your words show your on intellgents. Third,if someone needs not belong to a country its you,so PLEASE don’t represent us with those great words. There are other countrys that would love to give you a place to live and let you have your FREEDOM.So run, run OH, you haven’t left yet, DAMN. You know this country so free we’ll let go and ask no questions. SO GOOD BYE. OH yeah, don’t forget Hellen. I’m sorry ellen

  69. sharon says:

and also I didn’t know the pres. was signing these checks. If I’m right I think that its the internul revenue services department. Isn’t?????

  70. sharon kay marshall says:

we were told we would receive our refund on may 23-2998 we have not received it. could you help us out. we understand half of it went to the state. but I’m intitle to half . I dont understand why when two house hold work and when one is paying the statethank you sharon

  71. Breanna says:

I understand, I was told that my payment will be mailed by May 16 as you can tell from the previous comments I have not received anything. I know people are worried but I am just so tied of the bill collectors thinking that since the stimulus check is worldwide everyone is getting money. Even if you owe taxes they are taking this out of the stimulus payment. I Hope a bill collector is reading this just because their is a stimulus check that does not mean their is extra money in anyone’s house hold.

  72. Janice Moye says:

My husband passed away March 24, 2008 after we had filed our income tax and received our refund. I would like to know if I will receive a check for both of us or for me? Will it be deposited to same bank account as my social security check is sent. So far I have not received anything.Thanks.

  73. Beverly A. Sain says:

I recieved a notice about my stimulus check, and they calculated something wrong. they have me getting $300.00 and $ 300.00 for my child which is wrong. I filed head of household I’am not a child so I should be getting $600.00 and $300.00 for my child.

  74. Roger Novak says:

I misplaced my stimulus check. How do I go about putting a stop payment on this check and having a new check cut replacing the lost check?

  75. Ann says:

I filed my taxes with Direct deposit, my stimulus check should have been deposited by May 2nd, and I still have not received this or the paper check. The website gives no reasoning behind this. When should I expect this, and what is the delay? The rest of my family have all received theirs

  76. LD says:

I have physically lost my stimulus check (had it, but cannot locate it anymore)
Anyone have an idea as to what my next step should be?

  77. Jason says:

We have the same problem. My wife lost our check on a windy day. It flew out the car window and we could not find it. We do not know what to do!!!

  78. Beverly Cordone says:

The check eligibility requirements really screwed me over. I only worked half of the year last year because I left for college, and in total I only made $1700.00 for the time I worked. I made minimum wage ($5.15) and only had 15 hours a week at my job (due to being high school). I didn’t make enough money to qualify. I paid my taxes, I worked, and now I have tuition and college costs to pay. Why isn’t that a good enough reason to get a stimulus check??? Sorry for ranting, but it’s just frustrating.

  79. Ellen says:

It is the same old thing. The ones that make the most money get the biggest refund. It is never for the low income or the middle income. The limit on that package whould have been $50,000.00 not $175,000.00. If they are making that kind of money they don’t need help unless they are over spending.

  82. Mary bentley says:

I too misplaced my check saw it and bingo couldn’t find it.
can I have it deleted and print another one or if you have a better solution would welcome another one ?
    please let me know?

what happens if the post office sends ur rebate check bqck to the irs? i had no mail box at the time and now i have no idea where or how to get my check?

  84. Audrey Strain says:

I’m an 86 year old widow, living on Social; Security, and have not received the stimulus check that I should be entitled to. I filed Form 1040A, mailed it on April 1/08. I called IRS today and they told that my 1040A had never been received, although I have my dated copy. He told me to get Form 1040X, fill it in, send it by U.S. mail. He said not to file another 1040A as it would cause a delay.

When I found 1040X it was for people who had debts. I have no debts. What do I do now?

  85. dennis olexa says:

my 88 year old mom never worked outside the home. She was married to my father for 35 years before he died in 1974. She receives his Soc. Sec. benefits.Does she qualify for a federal rebate incentive check?

  86. tammie says:

the same happened to me my check went out the back window in my truck i didnt find mine either ! i did call the irs to reort it lost and was told that i had to wait 6 weeks to make a claim . after waiting six weeks i made my claim was told i should be mailed another check in about two weeks . its now been 3 and a 1/2 weeks and still no check and the hold time to call and ask someone is unreal so now what happens ?

  87. Audrey Strain says:

I’m an 86 year old widow, living on Social security and have some mutual funds and dividends. I had TurboTax do my taxes over the internet. They sent it electronically. When I called the IRS in August, they told me I wasn’t eligable, but didn’t tell me why. They sent me form 1040X which I returned to them, as directed. My income barely meets my expenses. I know a coupl;e of widows who got $600 who are in the same situation as me. Why don’t I get a check too?

    • I finally received a check for $300.00 in October, 2008. No explanation why $300.00 instead of the $300.00 instead of
$600.00 like my friends received. I’d would like an answer.

      4600 l

  88. gryphon says:

OK it comes down to this. We should have never blailed out AIG in the first place if we have that kind of money give it to the people. 300 million people in the U.S. give them 1 million each and call it good see what happens from there. A check for $600 is a joke and slap in the face. 300 million is a far cry from 750 billion let the people save themselves and those who don’t have a housing problem which I would would be most would spend or invest with the money. Easy fix but could never pass it……sad

  89. Sharon says:

Never got a stimulus package…Husband got 600.00, is that it….>?????

  90. cyndi campbell says:

i have never recived a stemulus check . am intitled to one?

    • PETER J. says:

I filed my tax return for 2008 late, in November of 2008. I received a refund for over-payment of taxes, but want to know if I still qualify for the stimulus check. Does anybody know how I would go about getting it, if I am in fact still qualified? Thank You.

  91. douglas kenney says:

Will we get a $1200.00 stimulus check in Jan. 09? All ready passed by the senate and I believe George Bush.

  92. Anonymous says:

    where is my stimuls check
I ask the postoffice about it they are not sure what a letter is no help at all
    who might have an answer?

  93. WILLIE says:

We received $600.00 total for myself and my wife. I sent off a letter because we have three children under the age of 17 and within one month or maybe less a check for $900.00 came in the mail. I was happy because I thought they would ignor my letter, but they actually take the time to read whatever is submitted to them. We ended up with $1500.00 and where is it? It was well spent and maybe we will get another check in 2009.

  94. JAC says:

If I owe back taxes, will I get a stimulus check.

  95. JAC says:

Will I get a stimulus check if I owe back taxes.

    • saladdin says:

      no.

      Q. I’m eligible for a payment but I still owe federal income tax from a prior year. Will my payment be reduced?

      A. Yes. For this purpose, the stimulus payment is treated like any other tax refund. This means that part or all of your payment can be used to pay past-due federal or state income taxes or non-tax federal debt such as student loans and child support. If this occurs, you will receive a letter explaining how the stimulus payment was applied.

  96. Markus says:

I dont want any money from the government. This country is turning into a COMMUNIST country. Anyone who can read, and relate back to history, can clearly see we are headed for a downfall.
This stimulus check is more or less “a kid in a candy store” this meaning that it will not help the economy, due to so many people trying to pay their bills.

    • saladdin says:

What are you talking about? Do you even know what communism is?

So you don’t want firemen, policemen, libraries, parks, teachers, high school sports… I would keep going but you wouldn’t get it.

      saladdin

  97. Markus says:

What are you talking about? Do you know what Communism is? Communism is a socioeconomic structure and political ideology that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless, stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general. Have you reviewed the NEW AMERO that the government has been minting in Denver and is stockpiling it in Japan for the last 4 years. Meaning that the US, Mexico, Canada, and Europe will be a one world nation under this new type of monies. Read into revelations in which it speaks about one world countries.
Research Karl Marx before you speak with me about socialism (in which we are already in) or communism……… If all you know about communism is parks, police, and sports (Iraq was a communist country and has sports, olimpian sports, as well as North Korea.
Soo good for your I SURE HOPE WE CAN LIVE WITHOUT LIBRARIES AND TEACHERS!!!!!!!!! Research Dude

  98. Markus says:

    saladdin

You got no words yet bro, for a recourse on my comment. I guess you are still thinking about gardens, sports, ken dolls, etc. GOTCH YA

    • saladdin says:

Actually I had better things to do.

You said you didn’t want “want any money from the government.” I was asking for all the money back that was spent on you on things you use and enjoy every day but take for granted.

I see you know how to use Google to look up definitions. But you lost me with the god talk. Enjoy the cult.

      saladdin

  99. ana says:

I’am also a single parent, but I thank God that I got a very good job working with State and Goverment projects. I think I also qualify if there going on base on my 2007 tax return.I hope everyone can receive one. I’am also very bless.

  100. Donna Coker says:

My husband got his stimulus check to day, it was for only $102.00 why so low?
