The Small Business Administration (SBA) gave out nearly 97,891 SBA-backed loans that was a total of $19 billion dollars in financing to small business interests in 2005, nearly twice the amount they gave out in 2000. Of the small business loans, minorities received $5.8 billion in 7(a) and 504 financing, or 31% (an increase of 26% over the value of the loans the previous year). Women received $3.3 billion in 7(a) and 504 financing, or 17% (an increase of 27% over the value of the loans the previous year). African American owned small business loans were up 41%. Hispanic owned small business loans were up 19%. Asian owned small business loans were up 17%. (source)
It’s clear that the Small Business Administration is committed to helping small businesses, so now is the perfect time to take advantage of many of the free government grant resources out there because the grant website is ridiculous hard to navigate and understand. Nothing in life that is free is also easy to obtain and anything from the United States government is always 10x harder to get than anything else - that’s the bottom line.
If you already know the process, these information CDs won’t help you. However, if you’re a novice and you don’t want to scour the web for this information then the best thing you can do is pay the nominal shipping charges (you can write off their cost as a business expense) to get the information boiled down into something you can understand! Information is power.
