Happy Columbus Day

Wondering why banks are closed today? It’s Columbus Day. We’re celebrating the day that Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas back in 1492, when he, of course, sailed the ocean blue. With the passing of Columbus Day, we are further reminded that we now only have three remaining holidays on the year (Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) before we start 2013 and everyone freaks out because we’re going over the fiscal cliff [3].

Interesting part is that despite being a federal holiday, most people don’t get the day off. I know that when I was working, I never had Columbus Day off… seemed kind of unfair.

We’ll be back tomorrow with your regularly scheduled programming.
