When you purchase 20 items off of amzon for $3.99 shipping .. Does it multiply it by those 20 items or just the $3.99 for all 20 items?

These are some good tips, but I find shopping the sales makes me spend more than I would – it encourages impulse buying for me. Most of the time when I’m on Amazon, I’m looking for something specific, so most of these tips aren’t useful (except for buying used, which I love – especially when sellers list their books for $0.01 ).

If you order a lot and make smaller purchases Amazon Prime can be a good deal, but i find that with the Free Super Shipping I usually get my orders within 2 to 4 days anyway so unless it’s something I urgently need I can wait.

Prime is more than convenient. Depending on how and how often you buy from Amazon, it saves you money. I buy a lot from Amazon with many items under $25. No tax + free shipping makes for many smart buys.

With Prime, for example, I don’t have to think about sub-$25 purchases. Just hit one-click and 2 days later it’s at my door.

The $25 threshold is a proven retailing strategy to get you to spend more than you normally would. Many people will buy something they don’t really need to get that “free shipping”. That’s not saving money.

I’ll admit it is counter-intuitive and was skeptical that first year, but it does save me money. If you don’t buy a lot from them, I agree it won’t save you anything.

Does your Costco membership save you money? That’s a question for another post perhaps but it’s not for convenience that you are paying the $45/yr. (Costco prices aren’t that great, either BTW.)

Recommending Amazon Prime contradicts the article’s title. Amazon Prime might be convenient, but it’s certainly not a way to save money. (You see, when you SPEND money – like $79 – that’s not SAVING it. It’s kind of the opposite.)

Sorry, I just can’t justify Amazon Prime. It’s so easy to get super-saver shipping without paying extra. All you have to do is wait another day or two for your package. I’m an Amazon junkie, but will never pay for Prime.

I love the Free Super Saving Shipping. It’s actually pretty easy for me to find a low cost book to put me over the $25 threshold so I take advantage of the offer all the time.

As a long-time Amazon Prime user, I can vouch for it’s value. Is it worth it? Review and add up shipping charges in your purchase history for the past year.

Consider also Amazon’s “Subscribe and Save” service where you set up recurring purchase of all kinds of items such as razor blades, power bars, coconut juice, etc. You save 15% on such items and pay no shipping or tax if you’re Amazon Prime.

I’ve replaced many items previously on my Costco shopping list (most subscribe & save items are bulk). Highly recommended!
