About Jean Chatzky

Jean Chatzky is currently the financial editor for the Today Show but got her start in print as a financial journalist. As the financial editor of the Today Show and given all her appearances on television, she’s one of the more publicly recognizable of the Top Money Gurus [3].

In addition to all the television time, she is the author of eight books including New York Times best-seller Money 911: Your Most Pressing Money Questions Answered, Your Money Emergencies Solved (quite a long name!). Many of her books focus on smart money moves everyone should be making but oftentimes sprinkles in a healthy dose of reality. I think this is the result of the situations she sees as financial editor of the Today Show but you’ll see her tackle some issues that are more personal than finance.

This profile is part of our Top Money Guru poll. For the next two weeks we’ll be highlighting ten personal finance experts for our first ever Top Money Guru poll – you can vote for your favorite guru here [3]. It takes less than a minute and you could win a $100 Amazon Gift Card. Poll ends June 10th.

She also hosts Money School. Money School consists of a 1-hour live class of 45-minutes of lecture, 15-minutes of Q&A. Each one focuses on a specific topic that you may be dealing with right now. May 21st is called “A Crash Course in Saving More (and Spending Less)” and June 18th is titled “Yes, You Can Retire.”
