My husband had PRK from Salierno. Two months of very dry eyes, needed lots of drops...Then he was fine. He has better than 20/20 vision and is a year post surgery now

Did you ever get to see Dr. Salierno? How was it? I am thinking of going but a little nervous. My husband knows a couple of people who went to him and had good results

Has anyone ever done Lasik with Dr. Salierno (Wethersfield, CT)?
Please tell me about your experience!

A different question: how would you consider a fee of $3900-total- compared to the average price for lasik? (wich with insurance would go down to $3300)

My 23 year old son wants lasik surgery. He has been wearing contacts and glasses since he was 12. Has anyone got any reviews on Dr. Manuel Chankis, he presently works for Joffe Medicenter, Marietta, Georgia and was previously in Birmingham, Alabama. He was recommended but I need some more feedback before I use him.

Thanks for any help!

Please go to a cornea specialist at a reputible hospital that specializes in eye care. Although I went to the "premire" lasiks guy in Phila area, he was not a cornea specialist. His office turned out to be one of those lasik farms that processes as many patients as possible that come thru his door. Since my lasik, I have since gone to several cornea specialists perform lasik surgery for Guess what? They both charged about $2500/eye.
I am now paying out of pocket for my new Doctor, the cornea specialist, to take care of my eyes after the lasik farmer botched it up.
(both cornea specialist said I sould not have had lasiks, but PRK.) Ask and make sure they are a CORNEA SPECIALIST.

PS. Until recently, pilots were only allowed PRK. Ask your doctor about PRK. If your flaps don't heal properly like mine, your are screwed. Once you have flaps you will always have them. ALSO do one eye at a time to see how your healing process goes. The farmer who did my surgery is pointing fingers at me for being a bad healer because I having eye desease he didn't catch prior, because I rocesea, oh, and because I can't see past the blurriness I now have and it's effecting my healing.

I am seriously considering LasikPlus here in Houston. Can anyone recommend an experienced doctor in this area?? I have a consultation tomorrow to see what it's all about. After reading everyone's posts, I feel that the benefits definitely outweight the costs. I hate having to put old dry contacts in every day, especially living with pets. All comments and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Hey, wanted to share little of what I went thru at Hattiesburg eye clinic (the dungeon is what I call it now), I went to be evaluated for Lasik, had to make 2 trips down there before the doc could tell me if I was a candidate, but I wasn't. I have that same thing kera-however ya spell it. But I do declare when they was testing me, they put this BRIGHT light in my eyes to stare at and now I can't see at night, I can't stand lights in my eyes, I see double. Good thing I live in the country to where ain't a lot of traffic. I do good with my contacts during most part of the day, then I have to take em out and just wear my glasses. I declare, I think that exam they gave made em worse. I wish I knew some lawyer that could maybe help me out, cause them folks down there at hattiesburg eye clinic is either drunk or high, I won't go back down there.

Great for you, SM, that your lasiks was a success. Even after using the top surgeon in the area, my surgery is not a success story. For others considering, why take the chance on lasiks and flaps for the rest of your life if PRK will provide you with same results and NO FLAPS ? Down side is a longer recovery... Serioously, to anyone considering lasiks, look into PRK.

My lasik went perfectly smoothly. Quick, simple, slept all day afterwards and woke up with 20/15 eyesight! Despite my larger pupils the starbursts and halos are not that bad. Very happy I decided to have the surgery!

I had lasiks from the premier lssiks surgeon in Phiadelphia area 4 weeks ago. The period of time after my surgery has been the worst 4 weeks of my life. My vision is far worse than ever before plus I have a FLAP covering my eye.
Hindsight is indeed 20/20 or at least figuartively in my case. Would recomment PRK instead. at least if the surgery doesn't work for you, at least you won't have the added complication of FLAPS which may or may not stay in place for the remaining years of your life.

WHOA to CAT : NO one needs to PROVE anything to you, or anyone else. Fact remains: they ARE in the business of being a Lasik 'factory' - and NO one should ever just go with ONE doctors opinion on anything, much less their eyes. Period.

As far as the TLC 'factories' - do a google search, you'll see many lawsuits and many unhappy former customers.

Again, taking just ONE opinion for such an important decision is just beyond stupid. My MD is the top rated doc in Wisconsin for Lasik (and other procedures) - and the procedure was actually done AT a hospital and is MUCH cheaper ($2200 per eye for everything including enhancements for the first year if needed) than the Lasik here said they would charge me.

Does anyone have experience with the LasikPlus in Orlando (Dr. Jeffrey Robin)? My pre-op showed that I am a good canidate for their all lasik surgery, despite my rather large pupils, but I am having trouble finding specific reviews for their office.

Thanks!
