Lending Club $100 Giveaway

Print Print

Stack of MoneyHow would you like to win a hundred bucks?

The fine folks from LendingClub are giving away $100 to one Bargaineering reader. As one of the only peer to peer lending marketplaces still doing business right now, Prosper entered a quiet period as it completes its regulatory filings. If you want to borrow or lend money, LendingClub is one of the only ways you can right now. A week ago, I posted a video explaining how peer to peer loan marketplaces like LendingClub are really helping people out of jams. Today, they’re ready to give a hundred bucks to one lucky reader.

Here’s what you have to do to get an entry in the contest:

  • Leave a comment on this post before noon, February 20th, and,
  • Become a free registered member of LendingClub.

The second requirement, to register for free at LendingClub as a lender, is so that they can deposit the $100 directly into your account. You can withdraw that money immediately (or invest it, your choice).

Easy right?

I’ll select a winner at high noon on February 20th, email them for their LendingClub username, and he or she will be credited with $100 in their account. Void where prohibited.

The contest has closed, Bobby was randomly selected to win the $100! I notified him tonight but if he doesn’t respond in a week, I’ll select another name.

Haha. I figured, Jim. I was kidding. (Mostly.)

  7. Patrick says:

I am already a lending club member and a prosper member. I signed up for both of them last year just before Lending Club went quiet as Prosper is now. I didn’t do much with either, but now that LC is done with the quiet period – it is a little more attractive. Add $100 – and it would definitely be very attractive. :)

I realize that you are a fan of The Lending Club and are providing a link to them, but it would help to have a well-rounded report about them, as not all reports are glowing. Lending Club promotes itself through many contests, and they encourage websites to provide links to them by paying referral fees. Because of this practice, it is difficult to find unbiased reviews of The Lending Club.

Here is a review from someone who actually used the Club:

I am already a member with lending club (well just recently) and have began investing in loans. I should write a review at some point documenting everything I have done.

  19. Dan says:

I also recently joined Lending club after watching my accumulating funds in prosper languish.

Honestly, I find the Lending Club site to be much more refined and more easily understood than Prosper ever was.

  44. Hello,

Sounds great about the chance for a $100 bonus.

I currently have a loan out through Loanio, although they’ve also gone into a quiet period.

I love the idea of peer lending and if I win, I will use the $100 to lend money in the Lending Club network, so that it goes back into the system.

Why not, it’ll earn a great rate anyway!!!

    Thanks, great promotion.

If chosen, that money is going right back into the lending pool. $100 might not make that big a difference in my life right now, but others are not so fortunate.

Best of luck to whoever wins.

  62. JR Moreau says:

Social lending is one of my favorite new concepts out right now. A friend of mine is involved in micro-lending and may be opening up a branch office in Boston. I have also been involved with Kiva.org as well. This site looks as good, if not better than most so I am thrilled to be part of it!

    Thanks!
