Even on Cyber Monday, the biggest shopping day of the year online, LNT.COM REFUSED to accept my valid LNT gift card for payment during checkout. I found this outrageous considering there are no "land-based stores" in my area to use it. I contacted LNT.COM customer service and the representative just reiterated what I already found out at checkout. However, she provided me with a phone number and address to contact corporate HQ in NJ to complain. Even during the Christmas season LNT.COM will NOT let you use your valid LNT gift card online for payment. Ironically, LNT.COM had a place to "check" your gift card balance! Too bad you can't spend the money online!

So the end is now! LNT is finished as of Jan. 1. Somehow I told you so doesn't quite tell the entire story. For those employees that listened to the tall tells of management saying the company would survive, I suggest you learn from this for the future.

I worked in management for the company for five years. LNT will go down. They treat there employees and department managers unfairly, the only thing that matters to them is money . It's know wonder they are in trouble...what goes around comes around eventually! Hail another example of bad karma coming around and biting them in the ass...

As a current GM for the company ( for the next few months) I can tell you of a few issues.
1. Return policy blows. I had a guest come in and do a return on a bedding item that she had for four months. You can tell she had washed it and did not follow the instructions. She tried to give me some lame ass reason about 4 deaths in her family and all this other crap. To be honest I usually extend the return for a couple of days. But once you lie to me or act like a bitch I could care less. Does she think she can take an item to another retailer such as Best Buy or Target and think they are going to give her store credit or cash back after the return date has expired? HELL NO!!!
2. Poor ads. The ads are weak and we have been out of the items at times. But they ads are better than BBB. Not sure how you can fix this. Maybe another ad agency. Too late I'm sure.
3. Like the author of this story about Gift cards and not being able to use them. Just like most reporters or media outlets today. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Most reports talk out of their asses and have no clue because they report BEFORE they get the facts. So do your job and get the facts before you speak.
4. Poor locations of their stores. Old locations stay open while new malls open up. Must be due to lower rent.

Oh well............we gave it a good battle. My store gave great guest service and we looked good. We always tried to exceed the guest expectations everyday. Even for the bitches and thieves.

PEACE!!!!!!!!

I've been a manager for LNT for 5 years now and I can tell you things are very tense. Even though no stores in our area are slotted to close, the employees are very concerned for the future.
I think a major problem are the scum bag thieves trying to return stolen merchandise and using altered ID's. They assume we are idiots and don't know what they are doing. There only concern is supplying there obvious drug habits...I'd love to throw them out on there asses, or go to their jobs and harass them.

Oh yes that's a good one about customer returns, maybe the day will come when YOU as a customer will not get your behind kissed just for shopping there. Wait until we have only one food store, one clothing store etc. then when you want to return something because YOU did something stupid and broke it.......heaven forbid a consumer would read the instructions. Then non of you idiots will get your money back.......

I worked for LNT for 3 years during college, where I could see this day coming during my studies in business and finance. I learned that poor investment choices yield poor returns. Thus, a company that chooses to sell cheaply made "from TV" items, cat toys that have a remote, food items that don't sell and expire on the shelves, and $22 candles is bound to end up in this situation. Not to mention that any item, no matter how old, will be taken back in a return if the customer can come up with a mildly legitimate story or make a scene. I remember the back room being packed with "damaged" items that could not be re-sold from customer returns. There also was only one functioning security camera at the time, which led to hundreds of stolen items. We knew this because we found the empty packaging in the bathroom toilets and trash cans. It is remarkable to me that it took this long for the company to begin to sink. Would you spend $140 on a trash can? $500 for a vaccuum cleaner? $30 for a set of plastic stairs so your dog can get on the couch? There will always be some people that would say yes, but as we can see with this company's demise... most will not.

I've read of all of these comments and I'm sorry to hear that the employees are having a hard time. It's weird - because the best customer service I've had is from Linen n things!! I hate going to BBnB because of their customer service. I will continue shopping at Linen n Things.... as long as the store is open! I hope that everything will turn out okay for all of the employees!

Basically, this is a lesson to everyone for future reference. Gift cards are just a bad idea these days. Because you never know when a company will go under or which companys will. You cant forsee the future. Its better to give cash as a gift to someone then a gift card period. If stores cant stay competitive and keep debt out of their system with proper management then they are bound to go under eventually. As our economy goes into recession we will begin to see alot of the stuggling companies go under. The first will be the small frys, then the stores of non essential high priced items. The ones that will stay strong and weather this store will be the ones with essentials at competitive prices. And I think we all can agree on which ones those are.

people need to chill out.
only some stores are closing.
gift cards are still being accepted.

...and of course you're not going to get cash instead of the mail in rebate gift cards...

it's not that serious.
