List of Cards with 0% Balance Transfer Offers for 12 Months

(Updated April 3rd, 2008) If you are searching for a 0% APR balance transfer, you’re at the right place. The following is a list of popular credit cards that are offering 0% balance transfers and is a resource for people looking to transfer higher interest rate debt to a 0% APY card; or borrow money on the cheap for whatever goals they’re looking to achieve. I’ve compiled a list of forty-nine credit cards (thirteen have no fee balance transfers) that have 0% interest rate offers for 12 months on balance transfers (some offer that promotional rate for purchases too) and published that list below. If you’re looking to take advantage of 0% balance transfer arbitrage deals, you may find this list especially useful.

If any of these cards are no longer offering a 0% balance transfer for a minimum of 12 months, please let me know in the comments below. Also, there may be balance transfer fees associated (many of the cards do have a transfer fee) with the cards listed below, be sure to review the terms & conditions and fee schedule of each card before applying. They change constantly and I have reported what I believe to be the most accurate information.

Do you know which of these will just send you a check instead of a balance transfer?

Thanks!!

I can see all the Chase premium/corp/specialty cards are listed, but I also want to note that the regular Chase cards also have this offer. A few weeks ago I received a Chase card with the above offer and a small CL. I contacted Chase and I’m pleased to say the customer service reps are very nice and easy to talk to. They raised my balance up 4-fold with relatively little negotiation needed on my part.

MFJ - You’re totally right, I completely forgot about balance transfer fees… I’ll check them and edit the list.

TT - I know for certain Citi will send you a check, I don’t know about the others (like Discover).

I just signed up for a Bank of America card (platinum visa, I think) that has 0% for 12 months AND no balance transfer fee.

Chase just sent me a new card offer with a 0% BT until April 2008, with no fees. Needless to say, I took them up on it for some grandiose BT amount (I have an idle VISA-linked loan I can peg out for cash at a moment’s notice), and got 65% of what I asked for. So I got a bunch of free money to make interest off of until 2008, and a free copy of all my credit reports because they couldn’t give me the blue-sky credit limit I requested.

A win all around!

I just tried a couple of the discover ones, got all the way through the app, it said i needed to check whether I was a resident and one other common question…only thing was, these weren’t anywhere on the screen!! tried several times, same thing, way to go discover.

anonymous - not according to the terms of the application via the link in the list above: “If you make a balance transfer with this application, there is no balance transfer transaction fee.”

If you try to transfer a balance otherwise, there may be a fee.

I had a terrible experince with Chase customer service, which was incompetent in executing a balance transfer to the 0% card, made up for it by promising 0% until paid in full, then charged me interest anyway. I faxed them a copy of the letter saying 0% until paid in full, and they’ve said - without explanation - that the original cardmember agreement applies.

As just a little more detail - I transfered a balance to a 0% card of theirs. I called after several months to see how more I could transfer and was told that they would increase my credit limit and transfer the banace from another account. The transfered the balance without increasing the credit limit. This put my way over my limit, creating a cascade of bad consequences. They also can’t just increase the credit limit when you’re over it. (”Policy”)

After my complaint, the sent a letter saying the balance on the card (now below the original credit limit because of the payment I made) would be 0% until paid in full. But they started charging interest on the date in the original cardmember agreement. They’re still doing it, refuse to reverse any interest charges and refuse to honor their promise of 0% until paid, which was their remedy to fix their own mistake.

My experience with Chase has been incompetence remedied by more incompetence (best case) or deceitful promises (worst case). Nothing like standing behind your word.

some of these will differ from applicant to applicant. Although you may be applying for the promotion, you may not be approved for it and the credit card company may offer you the card but with different terms. It is very important to read the card terms once you actually receive the card. One of my Chase cards went from 12 month 0% to only 6months 0%.

Citi will send you a check for BT. I called them twice to verify that it would not be counted as a cash advance, instead it would be a BT that had 0% for 12 months with no BT fee. Having applied for several credit cards after reading these forums, it seems citi really has set the BT thing up quite well and they are even pushing the BT so they make it as easy as possible to do it..heck even your account online has a selection to receive a check for overpayment.
