The Denver Mint is only available for tours M-F 8 am to 3 pm, so it doesn’t make a very good weekend activity.

Phila’s mint has tours, took kids few months ago. Make sure you have photo ID and you can’t take in camera phones. I ended up waiting outside ( had gone years before) holding complete strangers photo cell phones – must have an honest face.

They should be open, they’re only closed if the Dept. of Homeland Security threat level is Orange or higher, right now it’s at Yellow.

I thought the mints were closed to tours after 9-11. I went to the mint in Denver a year or two ago and it was still closed to the public. I suppose that has changed?
