Several years ago we worked with Rosemary at M&S. We spent 9K+ to put wood floors in our entire lower level. (Empire quoted 15K but quickly dropped to 12K when we said no thanks. The next day Empire called us and said that the BOSS gave permission to drop to 10K) We ended up with bad contractors for our first install at M&S and they had to rip out the ENTIRE flooring and re-install. All good for the last several years but I'm about to call them as we now have 5 places where there is space between the wood joints. I'll see what happens without Rose there.

Doesn't it feel good to get "more" than you expected!?! I'll bet that the next time you need carpet, or a friend needs carpet, you'll use or mention M&S. That simple good dead of fixing the 4 by 4 patch is PRICELESS free advertising!!!

We had Empire come out to give a quote. They came in at $650 to carpet an EMPTY 10x12 room with berber carpet and a premium pad.

We went to Home Depot, picked out the carpet from far more choices and signed up for a quote. They came in at $300 for the same carpet and padding. However, they had to order the carpet, so the whole process took like 2 weeks, but on install day, they were in and out in about 45 minutes or less. So $2.50 per square foot.

Empire said they had a minimum charge of $600 to do carpeting as it's not "cost-effective" to come out for less. I have my wife to thank for steering us towards Home Depot. However, I monitored every bit of the installation as I don't trust contractors.
