I recommend the Lupus Foundation of America. Lupus research is so seriously underfunded that there has not been a new treatment of this devistating disease in over 40 years.

I've been a big supporter of the Salk Institute for many years now mainly because I agree with their approaches towards science. I also give the American Cancer Society annually.

I usually try to split my charitable contributions about 50/50 between national charities such as the above and local charities such as shelter and food banks.

I'm a big supporter of Compassion International. It's really fun to get letters from the Child in Africa that I sponsor. I definitely recommend it to anyone, and it's only $30 a month.
