I work for Goldline Intl in Santa Monica, and we carry a substantial number of the Walking Liberty Red, White and Blue silver American Eagles. They're not legal tender, but silver bullion coins.; We used them as free coins to get silver in folks' hands, because they do have one ounce of silver, and they're collectable; albeit, there is a bit of a premium. See here. http://www.goldline.com/specials/2004/08242004-1.html

They have a lot of neat coins available that I didn't even know about. I think I might get the military bicentenials that come out later this month. My girlfriend and I are both veterans. Great post, I always wondered about those colored coins too.
