Sharebuilder Free $50 Promotion Update
Want to hear something funny? So I spent basically all of my April 06 Net Worth Update talking about my terrible stock picks and then logged into my Sharebuilder account (the one created to get $50 for free) to find that my investment in IYT (iShares Dow Jones Transportation Average) is up a whopping +17.88%, but that’s only $8.94 (!!!), since September 6th of last year. That’s frustrating… oh well.
I list the sharebuilder promotion codes that are still active (ENTERTAIN50 is the best one now, $50) and signing up is pretty easy. Just sign up for an account, make a trade, get the free $50, and withdraw.

Okay, I signed up. I was waiting for another $50 promotion. (Thank you!) However, I’m not sure yet what I want to invest in. Does the promotion expire if I don’t trade right away? I got no information on the promotion after I signed up regarding how long it’ll take to get my $50, etc.–do you know?

I think you have to trade within a certain time period, 30 days, and they usually get it to you pretty quickly (a couple weeks?). I’ve only done it once and it was really easy.
I used on of the $50 promotions myself. I purchased $36 worth of SPG (after $4 commission). I then had the $50 buy up another $46 of SPG. I picked SPG for a few reasons.
1) It is a local company, and I use their facilities
2) It is a REIT, and they have a good dividend history
3) They have had great returns in the past, and they look to keep this trend
4) They own the Indiana Pacers
I like the idea of being able to walk over to the HQ at lunch time and see what my company is up too.
I think I will be using the code again to open an account for my wife.
