Hey Brian,
I always wanted to know if the brokerage account was opened by a brokerage company in a
bank? That is, does the account exist as part of a bank even though is in the name of the brokerage company or can brokerage companies have their own accounts independently of a bank?
Where does my money go when I put it in a brokerage account? To an account in, for instance, bank of America in the name of the brokerage company?

I think those cover it; I like my high yield savings account to be mostly as far away as possible, so I don't touch it. For that reason, I have one at igobanking.com; I also have one at Capital One Direct that has check writing and (yes) that one gets touched a lot more.
