I agree. This guy has a problem, and it’s not just stupidity.

But I guess you’re trying to say that petty forms of theft are more trouble than they’re worth. Agreed . . . assuming that reasons for theft revolves arround the monetary value of the things stolen, rather than some abstract or intangible reason that the stolen good symbolizes: a kid may steal something to ’stick it to the man.’

Now tell me, just what kind of thief, in his right mind, has they insanity to stick the stolen , via Elmers Glue or etc., product "to the man!?? Now that, my dear friend, is absurd. I mean, what if the case were that the thief stuck a "product" eg. car tire, a balloon, computer, HDTV, box of Frosted Flakes, Gummy Bears, Winnie the Pooh, Elmo, ad infinitum.... the nose, eye, ear, foot, elbow, etc. of "the man" eg. store manager, cashier, same manager but on the toilet, or a male security guard! And by the way, yes, I am putting words in your mouth as I am just kidding.

I wasn't very surprised that someone Bush associates with did something not so legal. "Kenny Boy" was a "good friend" until he got into trouble with that whole Enron thing. I wonder if this guy is still considered the honorable public servant Bush said he was.

But enough politics...that's just fiscally irresponsible among other things. His salary was clearly enough to support any purchases he would have wanted to make. What a fool.

It just does not make any sense, microeconomically. I mean think about all the time that goes into this. I cannot stand going to the store to buy stuff as it is... with this, you add 15-30 minutes to the time you have to be in the store. Considering a 2000 hour work year, this guy would be making over $80/hour. That means that each and every thing he stole would need to be worth more than $40, just to break even... and the point is usually to make a big enough return on risk... and theft is risky, especially when you are compromising a $161K/year job. The guy has issues.

And it makes me mad because I own TGT!

Of course no rational person in his situation would do this. This is a compulsion. It's not about the value of the stuff or how much money he makes--he probably simply cannot help himself.

I kind of feel sorry for the guy and hope he gets some help.
