Stop Unsolicited Junk Mail Credit & Loan Offers

Want to stop getting those direct mail offers of pre-approved credit cards? Register at OptOutPrescreen.com, a service of the major credit reporting agencies. Through the website you can opt out for five years, permanently, or opt yourself back in (if you previously request you didn’t want to receive any offers). Five Cent Nickel mentioned this late last year but given the recent practice of credit agencies forwarding your mortgage loan requests along to a select group of paying mortgage company customers (read about this practice), this might be a way to prevent those unwanted solicitations from arriving.

Good find…I am signing up immediately. I get at least 2 offers per day. I usually get multiple offers from the same companies weekly. Awful.

Great tip! It seems as though my shredder has been working overtime lately.

for those of us rocking the 0% BT games though, you might not want to opt out.. since some selective 0% offers are only via those method. but on another note, if you’re going to apply for mortgage anytime soon, you should definitely opt out well ahead of time.

your sanity from lack of phone calls will thank you.

a friend of mine had to change his cell phone number recently because he made the mistake of putting it on his mortgage application.

Thanks for the tip. I sure hope this helps and its not a scam. Between my husband and I both, we get probably 15 applications a week.
