Stop Unsolicited Junk Mail Credit & Loan Offers

Want to stop getting those direct mail offers of pre-approved credit cards? Register at, a service of the major credit reporting agencies. Through the website you can opt out for five years, permanently, or opt yourself back in (if you previously request you didn’t want to receive any offers).

Given the recent practice of credit agencies forwarding your mortgage loan requests along to a select group of paying mortgage company customers (read about this practice), this might be a way to prevent those unwanted solicitations from arriving.

    Good find…I am signing up immediately. I get at least 2 offers per day. I usually get multiple offers from the same companies weekly. Awful.

    for those of us rocking the 0% BT games though, you might not want to opt out.. since some selective 0% offers are only via those method. but on another note, if you’re going to apply for mortgage anytime soon, you should definitely opt out well ahead of time.

    your sanity from lack of phone calls will thank you.

    a friend of mine had to change his cell phone number recently because he made the mistake of putting it on his mortgage application.
