Grand Plan: How to Make $1000 Risk Free

Stack of Cash
How would you like to make $1000 risk free starting with just $1? It sounds too good to be true right? It sounds like a scam? Well, 99.999% of the time it’s a scam. This is that 0.001% time it isn’t and when you read through my Grand Plan, you’ll know it’s not a scam.

You won’t get rich with the Grand Plan, you’ll just get a little bit ahead. What you do with your new found wealth is up to you – you can pay off some high interest debt, you can put it in a high yield savings account, you can put it in the stock market, or you can just hide the money in your house somewhere. Whatever you do, please don’t squander it. Once you do the steps on this list, chances are you won’t be able to do it again. Don’t waste it.

New Chase $100 Checking Account Bonus

ChaseThis promotion has ended.

If you’ve been thinking about opening a checking account at Chase, then they’ve announced a new checking account promotion that is perfect for you. How about $100 to open a checking account with at least $100 in new money to Chase, 5+ debit card transactions in 60 days (or a direct deposit), and keep that account open for 6 months. Then a cool hundred is deposited into your account 10 days after meeting those requirements. This is one of the few promotions that doesn’t require a direct deposit, which is pretty rare.

PNC Checking Account $100 Bonus Promotion

PNC Bank LogoIf you’re looking for a new checking account and live in DC, DE, FL, IN, KY, MD, NJ, OH, PA or VA, they are running a $100 promotion for new PNC personal checking accounts. The requirements are slightly higher than your average checking account bonus promotion but not onerus. You need to open a qualifying checking account, setup a direct deposit, and make ten check card purchases with your new PNC Bank Visa check card. Your account will be credited with the $100 within 60 days of the direct deposit and ten purchases. The promotion ends April 30th, 2010 and you need to satisfy the conditions by June 30th, 2010.

PNC offers a free checking account with no minimum balance requirement, though your initial deposit must be $25 or more, and no monthly service charge plus they reimburse non-PNC Bank ATM fees if you have an average monthly balance over $2,000. You can see the schedule of fees here. Also, if you’re curious about deposit rates, they’re not great. At the moment, PNC’s deposit rates on certificates of deposit are below the nationally available best CD rates available.

Most promotions of this type are time based, not check card use based, which makes this promotion somewhat “easier.” More details are available on this promotion page.

Suze Orman’s Save Yourself Promotion

Suze Orman Women & MoneyMy friend Rachel told me about Suze Orman’s Save Yourself promotion with TD Ameritrade. Open a non-retirement Save Yourself account at TD Ameritrade, make 12 consecutive monthly deposits of $100+, don’t touch the money, and TD Ameritrade will give you $100. The Save Yourself account is essentially a high-yield money market deposit account with a 0.50% APY and FDIC insured as the funds are held at TD Bank USA. It’s a bank account, not a brokerage trading account.

In addition to the $100, you get online access to her book Women & Money (you don’t have to be a woman to take advantage of this offer).

Seems like a pretty screaming hot offer, $100 for $1200 in deposits? Am I missing a catch?

Discover Business: $100 Cashback Bonus Promotion

Discover® Business CardThis promotion has ended, you can look at this list of the best credit card offers to find additional sign up bonuses.

Discover Business is running a promotion where you can get $100 bonus cashback after $1000 in purchases within the first three months. Discover Business was the card I decided was the best business card because it offered a 0% APY on balance transfers and purchases for 12 months, had no annual fee (rare in a business credit card), and now with this $100 cashback promotion offer… it’s certainly worth considering if you run a business.

Some other notable features of the card:

  • 0% introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers,
  • 5% cashback bonus on office supplies,
  • 2% cashback bonus on gas purchases,
  • 1% cashback on everything else.

So, who can apply for a business card? Anyone can apply, simply enter your social security number as the TIN. The beautiful thing about the United States is that anyone can be a business as a sole proprietorship and there are no additional tax implications or forms to fill out for the sole proprietorship business entity. This means that anyone can take advantage of this business card offer even if you don’t have a business.

If this card isn’t your thing but you are still interested in the best cash back credit cards, I invite you to click that link and check out the hottest offers available.

Credit Card Offers & Promotions List

$1,025 in credit card offers!Credit card offers total value: $1695.

Here is every credit card promotional offer I am aware of, listed in a handy table along with fulfillment requirements. The only rules about having a card appear on the list is that the promotional offer be worth at least $50 and it must be a mainstream brand like Citi, Discover, Capital One, American Express, etc. No offers available only to a small geographic region, these are all mainstream ones that are potentially available to everyone if you qualify.

They are listed in order of value and I will attempt to keep this list updated monthly. (this list does not include free airline miles promotions, i.e. those cards that give only miles as a promotions, but some of these cards allow you to convert points into miles) For the cards that have (pts) next to the dollar value, which currently is all of them, you will get your rewards in points (which can often be converted into gift cards) and the maximum value is displayed there. $100 in points is usually 10,000 points, but not always, so be sure to read the terms and conditions. Without further ado, here are nearly a thousand dollars in promotions!

Name Value (Type) Requirements
American Express® Premier Rewards Gold Card 25K points after spend $2K in first 3 months
TrueEarnings® Card from Costco and American Express 3% cash back gasoline at US Stand-alone gas stations, including at Costco, for purchases up to $4,000 per year (1% thereafter).

Who is eligible for a business card? Anyone can be a sole proprietorship without filling out any additional paperwork. Put in your name as the business name, your social security number as the ID number, and you can apply as a business. You don’t pay extra taxes, you don’t have to fill out any extra paperwork, this is 100% legal and acceptable.
