TaxCut Standard & Deduction Pro - FREE
H&R Block is giving away TaxCut Standard (Federal) and Deduction Pro absolutely free.
You will still have to find a way to do your state taxes but you’ll be covered on the federal.
You may have missed it but the resources are still there, check out H&R Block’s National Tax Advice Day.
Some have tried to download the software and experienced problems (them asking for money), here a tip from kind reader Jennifer:
I got it. Just change the quantity in the 2nd box (download insurance) to 0. Push update. Should be free.

Once again…Windows only. sigh.
I’ve used taxcut for years and years, and even used their mac version after buying an iMac over a year ago. But mac users rarely seem to be included on these promos (quicken flat out charges MORE for the mac version of their software). I’ll be giving turbotax online a shot this year.
But if I still was on windows, I’d be psyched…I always enjoyed using taxcut.
That doesn’t seem to work. I get the page where it says it is free but when I say add to cart it shows up a shopping cart with it listed as costing $9.99. I tried a few things to see if I was doing something wrong but couldn’t seem to find a way to get it downloaded for free.
I’m having the same problem. $9.99. Hmmm… It does appear as “free” before I add it to the cart.
