Text Link Ads = Free Money

Personal finance bloggers, perk up, there’s a new advertising company out there vying for you attention. You might have noticed one of the text link advertisements that appear all the way at the bottom, in the footer. Perhaps you haven’t. Either way, they represent a new revenue stream that you might be able to take advantage of.

All you do is sign up with Text Link Ads, insert some code (if you’re accepted, which is a harder than Adsense), and in a few hours you’ll be listed in their database. They give you a 50-50 split of all the revenue they pull in and mail you a check (50 cent charge for a check) each month. If you think it’s for you and sign up, I will earn a referral fee of $25 if you’re accepted and make a sale.

I was able to sell all 8 text links within the first month. Good luck!

I posted an article on Yahoo Publisher in my blog. I have earned more through Yahoo than through Google’s Adsense in 3 weeks. Maybe you should try it too!

I’ve applied a few times to the beta but never was contacted about it… so for now it’s not an option for me.

Let us know how it works out for you. 50% is a huge honkin cut in my opinion, but if they can still meet your required price even with the commission, maybe it’d be worth a look.

Ah, I see them now. They are only on the front page?

Yeah, 50% is pretty sizable but it’s money that otherwise wouldn’t be coming in. So far, 9 of the 8 possible spots (kinda weird) are filled so it’s working out well for me and you can always request them to increase the price of the ads (they might do it on their own, they have motivation to maximize the revenue too) to meet your requirements.

Ultimately, it’s in the footer which is low impact (in my opinion).

Would you say you’re getting a fair price for each link? I know that they take out 50% and when they quoted me prices for my main site, I laughed - didn’t even bother applying for any others. Maybe I should reconsider?

jeff - I think it’s a relatively fair price for each link but now that it’s full, perhaps TLA will increase the price just to maximize income. Perhaps it’s something you should consider for your blog but not for saving advice? Basically when I applied I had no expectations and right now it’s revenue I didn’t have before so I’m pretty satisfied.

hmm neato they have a referral system. I’ll bookmark it and try it out later
