Top 15 Commenters

Added a fun little plugin that Flexo and Nickel (sidebar) put in a few/many months ago listing the top ten/fifteen commenter’s on their blogs. I had a pretty good idea of who commented the most but didn’t realize that Nickel was that prolific.

Here’s the current ranking:

  • nickel (62)
  • Jonathan@MyMoneyBlog (31)
  • Matt (28)
  • tim (26)
  • Caitlin (22)
  • FMF (20)
  • Jose (18)
  • Cap (17)
  • Flexo (14)
  • Dawn (11)
  • mbhunter (10)
  • Matt (9)
  • pfadvice (9)
  • thc (8)
  • Mel (8)

It counts based on the email address you provided in the comments box and it should link back to your site if you provided one. As you can see, getting on the list is probably pretty easy.

At the advice of Jeff (www.pfadvice.com), I kermudgeoned a Top 5 for the last 30 Days list in the sidebar as well. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks for contributing!

Hm. I just fixed my script, which was still set to access the old database. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. :> Anyway, the problem I run into is that the same people sometimes comment with different names. Sometimes Jonathan is Jonathan, sometimes he’s mymoneyblog, for instance.

I have a hidden feature on my list. If you add &max=100 to the end of the URL, you’ll get the top 100 commenters. You can use any number in place of 100. :>

The plugin I use matches on the email address entered so the two Matts are two different email addresses but display their names the same…

Wow. I’m a bit surprised by that, too.

Quit padding your stats. :)

you guys get all the cool toys ;) Now excuse me while I try to take out tim …heh

Only 8 comments, I’ll have to work on that!

I’m quite shocked that anonymous isn’t up there. That guy seems to always be posting ;-)

Looks like I’ll be adding my email address from now on! =)

Nate put together a toplist for my blog which was written as a plugin for wordpress. The one thing I like about it is that the names will reset so each month you can see fresh names on the list. Overall it’s a nice tool to have. I think that it encourages people to post a bit more which alwasy makes a blog look a bit busier.

Hm, that sounds like a good idea. I’ll add something similar to my site later this afternoon if I have a chance. :>

wow making top commentor list on various sites..

not sure if its a good or bad thing. I always thought it’s a neat feature though.

Too bad I’m running a now-ancient form of Movable Type. And I’m too scared to upgrade since I don’t want to break anything!! The spam monsters are killing me.
