Custom Harleys make up about 50% of their sales in bikes. Those bikes are regularly $25K and up. Since this was an impulse purchase, it sounds like it was a stock bike for anywhere between $15-20K. If was a Softail (kind of the Classic bike you think of as a Harley) he took about a 50-70% depreciation for 16 miles.

And anyone who impulse purchases a brand new bike is kind of nuts. But it definitely happens. A friend of mine sells bikes and he sees folks finance new Suzukis and Ducatis every week.

10K? No way…you can spend upwards of 25K on a decent Harley, but like with anything else, it depends on the model and options that you get.
