Flexo took a look at a WSJ article about the cost of a home over 30 years. I personally think the article is a little too sensationalistic because some of the numbers are absolutely ridiculous, such as $300,000 for repairs and improvements on a $290,000 home over 30 years? $10,000 a year on repairs and improvements every year for thirty years is absolutely insane. Maintenance of $300/mo for thirty straight years is also a bit outlandish but that repair and improvement number is just stupid.

You used to get cash-back on your discover credit card? How does that work — I thought it was only possible with debit cards.

I’m pretty sure you can get cashback with Discover cards even today, though I haven’t used one in a supermarket in a while…

Jim- I’m pretty sure that cashback isn’t allowed with Discover.

Are you sure? I mean it was at a Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh and I was interfacing with the credit card swipe itself (not some shady operation with the cashier)…

  5. You can still get up to $50 cashback on your Discover card with no cash advance fee. They have stopped paying the 1% back on these advances though.
