Weekly Roundup

FMF chronicles another episodes of his Elliptical Wars against Sears. It’s a long post but here is are some highlights: “I’m not buying anything of value from Sears for a long time.” and “I just don’t trust them.” There you have it.

Nickel gives us yet another interesting comparison of the effectiveness of Craigslist versus the local newspaper, this time with his couch. Again the local newspaper prevailed over Craigslist though he doesn’t really go into why he thinks that’s the case, for that you must check out his first comparison using a fridge.

MightyBargainHunter’s Question of the Day, which is part of JLP’s Question of the Day Marathon, is “What’s the best deal that you’ve ever gotten?” My best deal was my girlfriend. (Cue the ooohs and aaahs).

JLP discovers something about himself that he doesn’t like – how he feels “something is being taken from them when someone else receives special recognition or windfall gain or has remarkable success or achievement.” It’s called envy and it’s healthy to have a little of it, just bad when you have too much.

PFAdvice tackles the topic of using nitrogen filled tires, a topic I’ve covered as well. (article on nitrogen filled tires) Whereas I was getting the nitrogen free (part of the service at Costco), Jeff quotes the price of inflating a tire at a whopping $10 – that’s clearly not worth it.
