Your Identity for a T-Shirt

A post over at PFAdvice [3] about an ID Theft scam really surprised me in how simple the scam was. Essentially, someone dressed up in a suit, pretended to be a record executive, collected applications containing typical application information (which is exactly all the information an identity thief would need like your name, address, social security number, etc.) and no one was the wiser.

How many times in college did you (I know I have about a dozen t-shirts) sign up for a credit card just for the stupid T-Shirt? Granted, I always put in mostly fake data (definitely fake social, sometimes a fake address) because I didn’t want a credit card but how many people put in real data? Had it been a scam I definitely would have fallen for it.
